i have a another question... why the fuck is it important? as long there is no map with a 272 block to get to an UBERDRUBER start position its not important if its allowed or not

I'll make one real quick BRB

Well that's not a good attitude to solving problems. There will be a lot of pain and misery if someone submits a world record demo and is denied because of the unclear rule.

By the way, it's just stupid to try to fix this rule by having some kind of rule which is in any way related to distance (e.g. 272 dcj). If there is even a single place where you could start your run from which requires you to do a jump with height difference to get there, we'd be screwed again. Also, sometimes you might not be able to do a decent prestrafe and sometimes there might be something blocking your way such as a headbanger (while it still might be a legitimate 272 dcj "block").

Well, the only solution would be to include a demo then..

opa19/06/2010 16:10

lol imagine xtremeblock with this rule :D you just copy the same demo twice

That place could be reached with double-countjump - world record is 272 and by getting there, you actually set a new dcj record. But it's so obvious that it's impossible to jump 300 units with one of the existing techiques, so that sc would actually not be allowed.
So there should be some limits for cases like this.

I have another example.. What if that place can be reached only with 250x15 ? We know 250 is possible, but nobody did 250 15 times in a row yet.

you can use cps before you start the timer.

Way to complicate things in here...

Start your run from the same spot the current wr holder uses and now there is no such thing as an unfair advantage?

Add a fucking bhop or two instead of finding lame ways of beating records...

If you really wanna start after the 272 unit jump. Why dont you make a cehckpoint where its at and make it then start the timer. If you fail, do it again.

If you wanna start after the 272, it is pretty clear that its a part of the run so you would've to make it every time you want to start the timer, just as logical as if you wanna make it to the second block you have to make the first >.<

How would it be fair that you skip a jump you've made once after 10k tries? Then we all can start skipping jumps in the middle of maps which we are having trouble with.

Yes, but you can't gocheck to unreacheble spot, is no it ?

P.S. zhady, i think you not get it..

wRath` mapper19/06/2010 20:18

I don't think this exists in any map, not without good alternatives at least. Go find it first.

Well, ofc such places like in my example does not exist. The point of my example was to make an analogy to illustrate an interpretation of this rule:
[blockquote]You are allowed to use AMX features like teleporters or hook to get up to places you could climb up as well[/blockquote]
Does a place with 250x15 counts like as "place you could climb up as well" or not ? Is it legal for XJ laws or not ?

You wouldn't have to include a demo with xtremeblock, because you pass the same route during your run.

boom.dll20/06/2010 11:14(edited 20/06/2010 11:15)

as long as it's possible to get there using the current techniques, it is allowed.
it doesn't matter if it's a 272 mcj or a 256 longjump block or whatever... if it can be done under correct settings and it is possible (by possible i mean if it has already been done...proving that it is indeed possible) then it's allowed.
if it has not been done before then imo a demo of reaching the start spot should be required.

zhady Tournament #220/06/2010 16:11

not true boom, just because fof did 272 dcj on kz_longjumps where he can pre how he wants, doesnt mean you can make 272 dcj in a map where the prearea is for example 10x10 units

I don't think he meant that. Simply, what he said is that if a place can be proven to be reachable, you can start from that place.

PoshitO20/06/2010 16:57

the only good solution ive read is from flibo.
IF the jump to get to a higher place to start the run from IS NOT INCLUDED in the run, you should add another demo doing the jump.

TlofT21/06/2010 02:39

pulsar, if you made 5x250 and made a cp on each one, when you gc, you've obviously made it there before. so its not unreachable.

Pulsar!21/06/2010 13:43

No, you should prove that it is possible to climb to the "place you could climb up as well" with out any advantages which AMX gives you. Checkpoints gives you huuuge advantage to climbing on place with 250x15.

TlofT21/06/2010 18:11

its and advantage but it doesn't mean it takes something from impossible to possible, which is what the rule is about
