More small bhopmaps?

The competetion on these maps seem to get a lot of attention and a lot of love from the KZ'ers around here.

Had a small discussion with kyser about it, and I agree, I think XJ should start to accept more small bhop maps. In these maps it's okay to improve by a small margin like 0.05 and therefor the competition will never die out - As we've seen on coldbhop, goldbhop, pipebhop and so on.

So here's my question: Do you think XJ should accept more small bhop maps?

I think XJ should accept more small bhop maps. In my case I played only those maps as Scary said

@FLP, or maybe because xj has no new maps and all maps are pwned or pretty hard to take? personally i find short maps more fun, and xj is only accepting average/hard maps atm, so its getting really boring for some people.

my vote is YES.

Instead of just talking about it, why don't you guys nominate some maps instead :-) We're already doing exactly what you're talking about, but the maps won't be accepted unless someone nominate them :-)

Personally I dislike short bhop maps because you don't get the same satisfaction of beating a map when you beat a 20 second long easy map. I fancy long, medium hard maps like kz_man_trippin and sn_beachcliff etc. They are not too easy like sn_dustown (which is actually hard because it's too easy) and not short like cg_coldbhop.

Do you get a better feeling when beating a 20 minutes long map of pure torture or after reaching a top 15 time in a 20 seconds long bunnyhop journey in which you only spammed +moveleft and +moveright and jumped every now and then and hoped to reach a time under 21.29 seconds.

Short bhop maps might be more competitive because they are so easy and fast to beat. But kz shouldn't be a time only game. It gets repetitive to just play the same route again and again. If you fall you will just start again and lose nothing. In longer maps you have the risk of falling and losing all the progress you have made so far, or a big bite of it at least.

I myself play kz for fun. I rarely care about the time, it's just a tool to determine the lenght of the map in my opinion. I will try to reach the map as fast as I can by not taking too many risks often though, it's a nice way to see how I scale up against the better climbers.

Of corse the World Record runs are always nice to watch. The bhop maps are more appealing than the runs done in harder maps because it makes it look easy and perfect. In harder maps it's harder to determine the jumps difficulty. Harder maps are often harder to complete quickly as well because you need to know when to bhop and when not to bhop.

So shortly I think there shouldn't be more short bhop maps because they are not made to last long. The limit of a short map is reached more quickly than the limit of a longer map, usually.

Most of the unofficial maps are unofficial for a reason and I don't think XJ should get back to the level where it was 5 years ago.

One reason: The admins just dont care about that in my opinion, just look at volcanobhop for me the best example.
Its a great map but not official.
And to get back where xj was 5 years ago would sometimes be a step forward if u watch the community nowadays.
