soul v2.0 mapper20/11/2006 22:12

InseN, he jumped 0.4 units from the edge of the block and jumped 256.8 from what I remember.

So simple maths can work that out to be 257.2 = over 257 :O

insen mapper20/11/2006 22:18

imo the 256,8 units count from the 0,4 units before the edge

ScooteR20/11/2006 22:25

Ye it should be a total jump lenght BUT i dont think that its 256,** units ... he jumps maybe 0.4 before the edge but he lands @ the exact same edge , maybe 0.2-3 units further , and the total jump lenght is like 2,6+ :o

J!nX^20/11/2006 22:49

Lj: 256 (8 perfect strafes)

And I hope somebody will do it. :)

trb20/11/2006 23:44

maybe Count will do a jump on the 230 units only for fun with a 6120° turn.
the jump length was 267.157
but never somebody can repeat that and it was "only" at the 230 units jump :D

Scary Tournament #221/11/2006 00:22

LJ = 280 - I think the jumpers will use more than 20 strafes in the future

Murvelman21/11/2006 08:55

I am pretty sure it will be much more than you think...
With the current technique maybe 257 is possible

Jim Beam21/11/2006 12:40

245 bhop is possible!

faker mapper21/11/2006 12:47

yes, but 257,2 isn't 257 on block (it isn't sure that you land it on the 257 blocks).

Anyway, I don't think anybody will ever pull off more than 255 (even though it's maybe possible)

what i think is that if NiconeN and T3dbundy got some kind of fussion (lol) like a Nicot3D... the currents longjumps records will be beaten by far!! xD lol xD lol

thopa21/11/2006 23:39

I just dont see what this new technique some ppl is talking about would be like. Its nothing that will knock on your door one day, and suddenly everyone will use this technique and jump 250 units.

Precise unit-measured longjumping has been with us since the first lj-yard was introduced to us on kz-maps and some ppl has become über at it (especially this last (½)year). The world top 100 longjumpers has been geeking so fucking much you cant imagine and still they havnt jumped 255 yet; although its very possible. And alltogether thousands of ppl has spent thousands of hours longjumping and yet there is only two ppl that has jumped 254, and thats impressive.
The best tech is the one t3d, nico and soul (imo) uses. Add one perfect strafe (8) and you got yourself a nice recipe.

The luck part isnt just about having the perfect prestrafe and perfect airstrafes. I think it starts earlier than so. There are mayor differences between the techniques that is used. For example niconen has got his, and I got mine. Mine suck compared to his, and yet i just cant seem to change mine to be like his. Ive used the same style for so long (even b4 niconen started jumping :P) that i cant seem to change it. Its one with my fingers.....
The sens i use is the same ive used the last year. And if id try to change it to what id think would be the better; I just change back after like 10 min, because otherwise i suck so much i cant stand it. And maybe the überjumpers also had very much luck when picking their sens from the start. (Although i cant answer for them.)

I agree with ndr too, but i think its fun with dedicated longjumpers thats not really interested in making wr-demos. A competition is been going on at that area too. To be the best you have to be alone on the top; or at least be first.

And btw. I bet niconen would speak french fluently if he'd study french instead of spending hours longjumping :D <3

Just thoughts...

ndR

Oops. My bad :P In the "You say Months? I say Weeks"-thread you wrote:

Long Jumping ISN'T kz.

There are some über long jumpers who are noob/slow jumpers!
A good jumper must know to play on all kind of maps (easy/average/hard/bhop/block/cave etc etc etc... And of course, long jumping (245+)).
Then I think that you should say "Long jumping", and not "KZ"

ndR

I mostly agree with that :)
Longjumping itself isnt kz; its just a fraction of kz. Just like bhopping is another fraction. And a good lj'er isnt automaticly a good map jumper. Although he most often is; and vice versa. But a good jumper isnt always a pro-jumper. :! :)

Slightly offtopic; i know.

iv4n22/11/2006 18:48

thopa fat word,
i dont think 254 is going to be changed only if T3d/Nico get to much bored... :)

and i saw Nicos (ugly) 254demo where he did 7 strafes, landed (very very close), did another two strafes on the ground... this is the 257.4 unit jump???
plz admins make statment if its TRUE

Goob[staR.]23/11/2006 08:59
