Hey guys,

I know some of you might have already tried kzmod but couldn't get used to its movement/engine. However, the guys that are working on CS Promod made a really good update to the engine in their latest beta 1.05.

The game doesn't feel like CS:S anymore (even though it's still using the source engine), it feels 99,9% just like our beloved 1.6 engine, and Kreedz is very possible as well:

Some easy but famous trickjumps in CSP (+245 LJ and 240BhopLJ)

Longjump/Highjump/Countjump comparison

kz_cellblock in CSP

Note: Maps taken from CS:S (Official port of kz_longjumps, downloaded from fpsbanana) and KZMOD (just for demonstration, maps are not playable in CSP yet, so please don't even try it)) to demonstrate how a possible merge of KZMOd and CSP could look like. The future of Kreedz, once the CS 1.6 engine will be outdated and die (in 3-5 years)?

It's pretty fun already, I'd love to see it envolve and/or a possible merge of KZMods and CSP (maybe some basic Kreedz maps even included into their installer, hand in hand with checkpoints, godmode, axn/bhop mode for the bhop maps and other great features of KZMod). This way people could chose (just like you can do in Call Of Duty, between Singeplayer and Multiplayer) between "CSP" and "CSP Kreedz/Kzmod" when starting up the game.

What do you think?

That looks pretty amazing for being CS:S, seems like the future of KZ is bright, we'll have somewhere to go when the CS 1.6 engines dies as you mentioned.

But is it any easier than on CS 1.6? It seems like you get a bigger air boost?

faker mapper06/02/2011 17:16

Nope, felt like 99% the same. In fact I couldn't do better than 245 LJ, even though I can still do ~248 LJ in 1.6 (if I try long enough) ;)

Heyyy awesome thread, seems like Kreedz still has good days left !

Very nice work faker, and btw, is GroundStraffing exactly the same in CSP ? If it is, it's gonna be perfect ! :D

daza mapper06/02/2011 17:46

Does this mean i can map in Source SDK in the future ?? <3<3<3<3<33

faker mapper06/02/2011 17:49

WqkO: I'm not really good in ground-strafing, but it feels exactly the same, yeah. Just go an try it ;)

ritenau06/02/2011 17:51

Wow, that's a really good news. >:O But it would be very nice to play old 1.6 maps on that engine (remaking over 1500 maps is seriously boring). About ingame option… I think it's ok, but not necessary.

For me the most important thing is avoiding ugly looking maps, when new engine will start to dominate. Even in that cellblock remake some textures look too raw and carelessly placed. First impression about game have huge impact on newcomers choice to play.

evuly06/02/2011 17:53

Looks cool, but still odd :D

Kidzor06/02/2011 17:54

They really should work on design. The jumps are not that bad, but the maps, weapons, gosh...

faker mapper06/02/2011 17:55(edited 06/02/2011 17:56)

ritenau: Yeah, I just picked cellblock because most people that are familair with kz_ know that one.

KZMod / the source engine has much more to offer:

Couldnt you merge Cs pRomod and kzmod? Wouldn't that be a possibilite? :)

Lol OMG ! :D

How can I install CSP ? Should I install CSS first or.. ? Thanks ! :)

Juice06/02/2011 17:58

not yet because of the ducking code.

Ggs`06/02/2011 18:01(edited 06/02/2011 18:03)

wow, thats looks really cool! 1.6 engine in cs:s thats what I waiting for ..hopefully developers won't change anything and slowly, step by step, kreedz evolves in to CS Promod.. looking forward!

ritenau06/02/2011 18:03

Thanks for the link, but I've played Half-Life 2/TF2 and such, so I know what to expect. My point is: it's not enough to just build most playable maps, they must look superb.

(umm, and is it possible to run map from 1.6 on CSP? or it's more complicated?)

faker mapper06/02/2011 18:18(edited 06/02/2011 23:32)

At the moment there are no real Kreedz maps for CSP, you can only download the CS:S portation of kz_longjump and play it in CSP, the other maps are KZMod maps actually (kzmod.com) and not playable (you "spawn" in the walls, no timer or such thing yet).

However, I'm in contact with SoulFather and maybe he will team up with the CSP guys in the future, who knows :D

I think we, the players, could only win if something like that would happen and the 2 "parties" work together (next to the normal CSP project) ^^

Z0ck3rOO706/02/2011 18:20

@ritenau, I think u have to port them to the source engine...

I really like the idea, faker for president! :D

gizpo_O06/02/2011 18:42

the pic looks good, good idea yeah.

Don't see the whole point of this, except were on a upgraded engine, and visuals of upcoming maps on this would be pretty epic.

P.S Waiting to see how it'll evolve this.

The point is that you can play CS:S like you do on CS 1.6 which is big. The 1.6 will eventually get outdated, and it will die - but Source will keep living on for a while after that.

What are people gonna do when 1.6 dies? Just quit instantly? I don't think so. This is the perfect solution, and it feels exactly the same as 1.6 according to faker.
