Old school forum posters
Now, that I can finally type in the forum again - I wanted to post this for a long time. While I couldn't write anywhere in XJ, I decided to dig in 2-3 year-old threads. It's always interesting to see these threads again. Immediately you remember the day when they were written, all the posts and responses, the flame wars and shit. But I kinda feel nostalgic, or dunno how to describe this feeling. Nowadays I see that almost everyone of the oldsql forum posters are dead. I mean almost all of them. There are some rare cases that post something from time to time, like akM, Scary, ndR. Ofc, I'm sure that there are more ppl, but can't mention all of them, cuz I'm in a hurry atm. I've checked all the active oldsql forum guys, and I thought they haven't logged in ages, but no, actually they visit the site very often. So I'm really wondering why they stopped posting in here.. it's not quite the same with all the new guys in here. Rarely I see someone that is below #50 000, kinda weird.
My point with this thread is to ask all the oldschool forum posters - Why don't you post anything? Lost interest, lack of time, lack of motivation? Just a thought ;D
they lost motivation and or time cause of real life things.. work, children, etc etc..
Over 2 years ago I was at highschool, living under my parents' roof, doing nothing except having fun, then after I graduated the "highschool", "having fun" and "parents" turned into "university", "part-time job" and "girlfriend":
I took a flat with her, found a part-time job, and had to study harder for university.
The other explaination is that XJ expansion sure brought so many new members, but it also means more chances to get immature people or simply jerks.
I'm tired of this generation of "internet kids", pourring bullshits on the forum/chatbox all day long, bringing a really negative atmosphere, trolling, whining and complainning about everything, never satisfied, that thinks everything is owed to them.
There's a huge lack of respect, not only towards admins, but also towards other members, only by the fact it is the internet, which is in this case a garbage where they dump all the hatred shit they're afraid to express in real life.
Besides the fact that most of the cool members left, it pretty much sums the situation up, in my opinion.

That's correct.
Only memories remain. And need lives farther...
That's correct no doubt.
completely agree with you, ndR. Nowadays it's filled with disrespectful kids and trolls, who are trying to be funny. Well back in the days I mentioned above there were spammers as well, but it was different. They knew when they need to be serious, and when they were trying to be funny they actually WERE FUNNY. I remember I always laughed when reading zyllEE, akM, ajR's posts. Ofc other dudes aswell, but I really miss this and yea, life had its impact on me as well. But I guess it's the way it is, the way of life and it's completely normal, but since this is the site I visit the most I kinda miss the old days and that's why I decided to make this thread, cheers.
nice thread aftermatch-_-
Its always nice to see what used to be the hot topics years back, scenarios changed a lot; oldsqls' ppls got busy irl, job/univ/professional life/things that actually matter in life.
The Offtops are fun too, you actually get to know abt ppl, with whom u bizarre talk every day and night. Any thread/forum where u can inter-relate on a sensible level is gonna get a hit, hardcore kz'ing is way outta the timeframe of most of the oldschoolers, i feel, hence the diminishing activeness.
Oh and yeah, true words VoDkA`BoY.

I agree with this, seems to me like a lot of people on here act like spoiled kids. People generally don't seem to respect the effort all the admins put into keeping this community alive, but they don't hesitate to bitch about it when something goes wrong.
We need to appreciate that they're willing to do all this in their free time, they don't get paid to do this, they do it to contribute to this community. Same thing goes for recorders and movie makers. I'm tired of watching people flame koukouz because they don't like him, at least appreciate all the time he has spent to give us all these amazing demos. And i'm tired of reading the ROTW comments, every single week people bitch about the edit, just be happy we even have ROTW.
In short, people need to stop thinking they're entitled to all this, and start appreciating all the work people are putting into this community.
Sorry for getting off topic but ndR's post got me thinking :)

One of the best posts ever on this forum, and its 100 percent true. However it's not just Xtreme-Jumps as you said, the newer internet generation as a whole is taking a wrong turn into being kiddies everywhere copying memes 24/7 for no apparent reason and spouting bullcrap.
i still post. lol!
You may discuss these topics and say how spoiled, always complaining, never satisfied kids are and so what? What are you gonna do about it sitting in your chairs and writing masterpieces about how most things should change, how they will turn out, how everything will become better etc. This is just ridiculous. You can't do anything about it nor can anyone else except for the people themselves so I don't understand why this topic is even being discussed.

way to get out every progress from indifferent or rather weak parts of xj. i simply stopped watching the ROTWs except 2 or 3 of the last ~20 because the edit didnt rly seem to improve. in the start i complained in every single of those posts about the edit (with proper feedback). it really shouldnt be that hard to make a runvid without technical mistakes or ugly things imo. good improvement: i think everybody can now do a rotw right? that was quite the most painfull point before
anyways its like that with many parts of xj, sometimes admins seemed incredibly sensitive about their work although it obviously was weak at several points. i think everybody knows xj is no moneymakin machine and they spend their freetime on this ect. but srsly if you expect that much positive feedback and thankfull words and dont get them, it probably has something to do with what you just pulled out or did.
very good output, like chrizzo's article about fof for example, had 0% negative comments, not even some founded critism there. on the other hand, when faker released that kz compilation (cant remember what it was exactly) and he had like major grammar mistakes everywhere, people were kinda.. the opposite and faker got really mad i remember. if stuff like "oh your english suxx )))" is such kiddo-stuff your talking about... well obviously his english sucked, whats the point in raging about those kinda comments, i think its a good point and we should thank our russian, 13 years old friend for mentioning it. its like the most basic social skill to deal with such stuff
i personally dont see the disrespectfull kids everywhere, xj seems just the same as it always seemed to me. some people got in mind those "half-godlike" and unimpeachable xj staff and recorders and moviemakers ect. everybody who decides and makes and... on the other side a mob of thousands of users who only pull out words of joy and greatfullnes every second. i just honestly hope it will never be like that on any place except northkorea maybe. negative comments are just a hint that something actually really sucks, not in first place spoiled kids who compensate their schooltrouble -____________- i'm sure members who are only here to get satisfaction from complaining are like 1-2% of all active users, and even those people shouldnt drive you mad and make it so muhc shittier than it was before...
ofc i miss some posters, like kafds for example (banned) but there are other people doing proper posts and some of the "oldschoolers" are certainly still around, elsewise they couldn't talk about how shitty it is nowadays. i think most people just want to feel nostalgic
Sry Knox :D u 2 ofc
More users= Harder to handle a community
Of course a lot of people remind their old times because there were only 10 or 20 active users. Now everything is different, when any person want to make a joke or have fun here, that dude is banned or warned. But thats how admins always did their job and now you see such a big difference only because there are more users around here and you think admin attitudes are differents. It's just the same community i met some years ago
Well.. I really lost interest and motivation in this community.. Just because I'm not into cs this much anymore.. I personnally moved on to something else. And like ndR said, oldschooler are, by definition, ppl who used to be active in a certain period of time, but we're now some years after this, and responsabilities come with age.. Anyway, I kinda miss the old days too. I'm not very active anymore aswell.
the site got too serious imo.
I REMEMBER THIS SITE.
OMG ITS AJR !!!!!!
