Everyone of us is unique, and that's why everyone reacts differently while trying to break a record. Our nerves are playing a big and very important role in this act of recording. Perhaps everyone in here have tried recording at least once.

So guys, how do you feel while having a great run, when you're about to beat the current cosy/xj/national/personal or whatsoever record? Are you able to remain calm till the very end of the map, no matter how good your run is? Or is it very difficult for you to handle the pressure, your hands start to tremble and you're simply losing control over your actions?

Personally I am of the second kind, which makes recording very stressful at times, but very exciting either. It took me really a lot of time to develop the ability to control my hands, while my heart is about to explode. Sometimes, trembling hands may cause a lot of problems, which unfortunately I'm very familiar with. It really isn't very pleasant to fail on the last jump, especially when it happens systematically.

People like zhady, brian, heL^_x, mjuuh, Flibo etc. to me are just robots, and I've always admired to their self-control ability.

When i think less about the record, i do it faster. Thats my moto in recording. And i agree with you about those "robots". But i think the main reason why they do it so quickly is their records amount :) Even they fail, they still are the best.

In my case it is so, when I'm focused, everything is ok. Just when I think of myself, "Damn, that is, a WR RUN!" sooner or later I just fail on kinda easy jump... Maybe when I work on my mind, or when I would a lot skilled, my runs will not be so nervous! ShNz, I always envied you the peace of the wr runs, perfect bhop, strafes, and generally everything.

I do not have anything to write, I feel completely the same as you shnz, it occurs at the end of the map shaky hands and heart that wants out. It took me a long time to master it although it starts still sometimes.

I know an idea of how you can get past it, which to me is going well. Drink 3 cups of alcohol, I recommend vodka, you'll fill relaxed, I realized after 5 secs that I broke WR

nobody^15/08/2011 12:11

Almost the same as shNz and niki. My problem is that my heart is trying to bump out not only when I am near the end of the map. My starfes are awful when I record, they are unsynced, ungly and, unfotunately this is the main reason I fail all the time. Also, I am quite nervous when playing cups but I am heading offtopic. Great thread dude!

In my d2block_h wr in the last part I was as nervous as I've never been before. I was geeking it for more than a week everyday and it was 1st time i reached the last stage with the best run i've ever had. I was shaking so fucking much, i got like 200 heartbeats per minute i believe :DD. I don't even understand how did i pass it without failing, and that part has pretty hard jumps that require concentration and precision.

Well, in any other of my recs and even dr0_cliffside wr i just felt a little bit nervous in the end, nothing special.

kunqui15/08/2011 20:11

At the end I fell like I'm going to die.
I remember when I recorded my first WR.
But after some records it's like a routine and I didn't get nervous anymore. From your list I only admire zhady's patience. He's unique, he can be 4hs jumping just a map and he doesn't get bored at all.

Nukk15/08/2011 20:25(edited 15/08/2011 20:30)

well,at the end of map(like last part maybe) increases heartbeat and..mm..difficulty breathing.well,im not sure that everyone are unique in this.im pretty sure that everyone got same shits like i said.about robots - i dont think they had no any nervs while recording because just imp.as kunqui said that it dissapers after some time, well,i dont think so because one guy told me that most of guys like kelta(who are top1 atm actually) shnz kayne and puppetz still nervous while recording, but why then ? they got lot of wrs,but still nervous ?
i would like to say about myself personally..i get nervous when begin think about it,tried to prove it,when i dont think,i dont get nervous.would like to add that this shit works only on xj(FOR ME BUT IM SURE THAT FOR EVERYONE TOO)not cosy, national etc..
well,peace :)

Nikša Jovanovic15/08/2011 20:44

true, for me it's only for xj, because it is officialy world record

Tetriss15/08/2011 20:57

I am very nervous, as well :) It is like you have already said guys - when I am approaching the end of some map, my heart is like a jackhammer :-D Start to losing controll and I am more careful. Despite this measures I usually fail :-D Even when I fail good lj stats on a random block, my heartbeating velocity grows up fast as hell and then I am totaly unable to continue for next few minutes. I just born that way :D
BTW it is great to see that the best players have nerves too :D I would never say that even you, shnz, have this problems... Your strafes looks so calmly and under controll...

dx^15/08/2011 21:15

I believe that everyone has these feelings upon arriving at the end of a race map with great because you are thinking of the timer that will do and this can hurt a lot during the race, also a player who has control in the hands and Koukouz, man that kzro_dahajourney is a map with heels hard and he very calmly .. synergy_x of the hel also. It is difficult to control but I think we have given these Proplayers have become accustomed to it and eventually became a routine for them ..

CamelCloudrecord holder15/08/2011 21:44

I drink 1-2 energy drinks when I record - it kind of makes your body act more "uncalm" and your heart beat faster than it normally would. That way the effect of the in-game nervousity is a lot smaller, and you won't notice it as much as you would without drinking the energy drinks.

How you not gonna put my name in the self-control department shNz! Never get nervous, except like once or twice. nukk, some people don't get nervous. Some people always do, no matter how many WRs or experience they have. (kayne & shNz come to mind - and many others)

Even 6 years experience doesn't matter sometimes, I believe Micron still gets nervous.. whereas I doubt zhady does.. Just depends on the person really.

sooshkarecord holder16/08/2011 02:47(edited 16/08/2011 02:54)

being nervous is the thing that atually makes kz fun. if you don't get nervous that's bad imo.

btw whered you get this info from? "People like [se] zhady, [us] brian, [fr] heL^_x, [fi] mjuuh, [fi] Flibo etc."

i think they all got nervous, maybe some a little less than others but still.

CaBeZarecord holder16/08/2011 04:03(edited 16/08/2011 04:23)

For me it depends of the map.. if the map is short like 1 minute run (kz_ghat) I don't get nervous.. but in other maps 5-6 minutes long I remember some parts at the end that I always fail and I say no I can't fail now and then I get nervous haha ..I shake like monkey in the Antartida xD
But I also think that with expierence you loose nerves, for example,1 year ago when I recorded national records I was nervous at the end, but that doesn't happen to me anymore :/

SPOKS16/08/2011 07:10

hoho shNz is very angry if he miss in the end and is with uber time, belive me :D AHAHAHAHA :D

Ggs`16/08/2011 11:03
