Define "Get a life"
Hello guys,
As most of you know, whenever a player accomplish something that is considered really good, there are always haters.
This might be obvious since alot of people are jealous, some might dislike the player in question or they are just trolls.
What I wanted to point out is the actual meaning of the sentence: Get a life.
As i've interpreted it, it means that you should quit (internet) gaming and go do something thats not game related but physical ( this might sound retarded but it will clear up in the end of this post)
Life for me is doing things that you enjoy, things that amuse you and makes your time go by with joy.
For example.
Some people might enjoy playing a certain sport, some even live for that sport and they do whatever they can to be the best as possible in it.
Are they geeks? should they "Get a life"?
Because what you get out of sport is a competitive feeling and obviously joy whenever you manage to win/ do something that you consider to be good.
If someone would enjoy playing cs as much as playing for instance :football. What defines him/her to be a geek? when all he/She is doing is enjoying her/himself with obviously "competitive" or socializing activities.
As the world evolves, it has come to my attention that Esport has grown enormously and if it keeps peaking this way, i could see it being used by almost everyone in the future.
Basically, telling someone to get a life is utterly retarded, to accomplish great things you need to put down time to do this.
To sum it up, The outcome of what you do is what matters. not what you are doing.
And in this matter, isn't evolving a quite major factor for this community to stay alive?
Just reconsider what you type in comments, trolls.

Yep, totally agree.
nice post dude, f*** haters.
Only hypocritical people would say that in your face because they think they are better than you in real life which isn't really the point here but nvm.

What is, "being better than someone in real life" ?
Having a better job?
Having a better GF`?
Having a better hobby?
you get the point.

OT : There is a simple reason to the fact that "Get a life" sounds retarded : You stated it yourself, most of the people saying "Get a life" are haters, and mainly jealous. So, we can like these to the fact that haters are drastically retarded.
I don't remember if it was on XJ or reddit, but there was a biiiiiiig thread about what is a sport and what is not considered as a sport. Most people were like "l0l for me sport is physic thing stuff stuff derp derp" which, I believe, is retarded aswell. What defines a sport for me is the competitive feeling you actually feel when you're playing this sport. So for me e-sports are an enormous part of sport. I don't know if e-sports makes your brain produces endomorphine aswell though, but I believe so since I feel actually fucking good while playing competitive league of legends, SC2, etc.. That thrill is just too good. And I wish for both community and integrity of these e-sports, games or whatever, that they'll just become recognized as real sports and that people will start to think twice about they say and stop saying "get a life" or "nerd" to anyone giving just the same amount of time to a video game than a sport.
When you spend too much time in front of your computer, then you are wasting your life in my and many others opinion. What do you get in the end by geeking a computer game to death alone in your room with virtual "friends"? And what do you get by geeking a game like football with real friends outside in the sun? Physical and mental satisfaction. Do you get that by geeking PC games? I doubt so... Well, atleast I never felt satisfaction by playing Kreedz more than 2 hours (and I certainly wasn't a geek).
No offense, but your post sounds like a limping justification for sitting in front of the computer all day.

Just gonna point out "mental satisfaction"
I respect your opinion but it's still ignorant whereas you are not in any position of judging what other people get "mental satisfactions" from.
With other words. Some people might socialize on the web, and enjoy it even more than they do in physical sports or w/e.
I personally agree with that performing a physical sport gives you more satisfaction, but that does not give me the right to look down or ridicoule people that enjoy virtual "sports" since they might get the exact amount of satisfaction from that.
Edit: Also, wasting your life is not in your hands to say neither. What theese individuals choose to do with their life to gain as much joy as possible is their own individual choice.
people who are worse than you call you a nolifer
people who are better than you call you a noob
its been like this since forever :[
[blockquote]With other words. Some people might socialize on the web, and enjoy it even more than they do in physical sports or w/e.[/blockquote]
Well its ok to "socialize" for like a couple of hours like you`ll do the same with sports. But to sit infront of pc for 10 hours doing the same thing like in this case geeking a map or w/e and get that "mental satisfaction" .. thats just not right dont you think ?
Well i agree 100% with jack frog
you live and then die, what you do inbetween nobody cares about in the end, and it wont change
you're just trying to justify your lacking social life, that's all
Well, I may seem somehow ignorant for writting this, but I guess nowadays kids/children get too much into this computer games and begin writting theories about this, which way too pathetic in my opinion. As a friend of mine translated me a sentence from a russian serial: "Taken this generation back in Soviet Russia days, neither they would sleep with a girl, nor even kiss one". I know it's kind of aberation though it's actually true. Why do people start defining mental satisfaction playing computer games? Do you actually understand what kind of sickness is this? Go to doctors and speak about that - a normal person must maximum stay ~1 hour in front of the computer/ day. If taken so, I also spend too much in front of the computer as well, though I have an excuse: work. What the hell? Since when it became normal to gain satisfaction from computer games? If I start developing this theme, I'm sure I convince you 100 % you are not right. One example to prove myself: killing people or taking drugs also brings mental satisfaction to certain people. I think this is enough said. And believe me: there is a small difference between playing cs and taking drugs. Some people forget about such elementary things like: WC, eating, drinking or simply take some fresh air only because they spend too much time playing computer games.
I was in such a period as well when I consider geeking games is quite interesting (but not to get the wrong idea, for me 3-4 hours in a game/day is already abusive geeking). Well, I played once a ~7 hours and I've got headache, I couldn't think clearly and I forgot as I mentioned before about such things like taking some fresh air.
My recomandations to people who think that computer is good: get a job, make money, get alcohol, get company of friends, get a girlfriend(if you are able to) and live your life. Otherwise you'll wake up at the age of 40 with a child playing abusely computer games and you'll have your heart broken. You'll wake up at the age of 70 and think once again: "Why didn't I do that when I was young? Why was I that stupid to play some computer games instead of living my life to the fullest?"
I do really regret that there is democracy in this world, which actually just covers the devil behind the scenes. Better were the days when none of this home computer technology existed. Better were the days when "mother democracy and father law" didn't exist to punish people that kick other people for talking shit about them. Better were the days when law didn't punish the parents who take children's computers and don't give it to them(yeah there are such stupid cases nowadays, believe me or not).
Wasted generation ... too wasted.
If defining "get a life" - I said everything above: get a job, make money, get friends, go to parties, drink, dance, eat, travel, get a girlfriend/wife and live your life to the fullest (well ofc if you are 18+). Internet teaches you nothing (almost). And for kids under 18 who spend too much in front of the computer - do sport, walk, meet with friends, make jokes, get a girlfriend(again - if you are able to), talk to elder people, learn important things in life from others experience, watch movies, go to cinema, listen to classic music(it develops your imagination) and forget about this piece of crap machine - computer.
PS : sorry if offended, I know it's tough, but it's truth anyway.
MrMistery why are u so smart :D? how old are ya`?

Was thinking to same when I read the first lanes of ZippoW's.
Justifying your lazyness with a whole topic is quite endearing actually.

Im not at all. This post is not about me really, I wrote it because I got pissed off at people writing to everyone who succeeds in getting top1 "get a life"
As said before, YOU are not to say, what another one would do with their time.
*You* - as in the one saying get a life.

I agree with some parts, such as living your life to the fullest and so on. But its totally irrelevant to my post. it doesn't give anyone the right to flame another person for what he/she chooses to do with their time.
Nevertheless, I could state. Get high, kill people on the streets, go and make a random girl pregnant. and it would be the same thing.
If now that would be what I defined as " getting a life"
Also you wrote "get a job". are you aware of that almost EVERY business in todays world is composed with computer systems, computers control pretty much every area in the world?
I totally understand your ways of thinking, nowadays children get into "gaming" really early and it actually destroys their youth in the matter of social interactions and so on.
What you personally think about someone spending their time infront of the computer is not giving you a right to flame that person nor looking down on their choices. its as simple as that really.
Again people. This is not about me trying to justify anything, its rather a fact of accepted/tolerated behaviour. telling someone to get a "life" because they are successful in kreedz is just a sign of jealousy.
what is beeing social, what is actually getting intelligence, skills, making a career, economical success, whats the matter with sexual intercourse, having a family, feeling love
it's value isl exactly what it is to you, and thats the only thing that matters, if you feel satisfied by watching 30 episodes dragon ball z a day, you're lucky with your potential mental satisfaction, and thats a proper way to spend your life. always fun having some ppl seek for a general meaning of life or standards for everyody, just messed up social conventions keeping their mind from discerning the obvious.

man, that whole text you wrote there. thats some funny shit, i am still wondering if its a troll, lets just say: you got me. the political pseudo-facist crap you wrote is a proper hint for the source of your thinking tho.
my recomandations to you: figure out what life rly is, the "sense" of beeing, concern yourself with humanity. some good way to do that: nietzsche, sartre, kierkegaard, camus... dostojewskij.. also freud wrote alot of good things about individual happiness (way to go, you might get lost of that (unfortunatly quite amusing) ignorance you showed us)
the only inner conflict that appears right there: that might intimidate your mental satisfaction on long term. i'd straight force you to start thinking about more than banal everyday shit but luckily that's contradictionary to what i just said above, about everybodys individuel values. obviously ignorance is bliss in most parts of life, so that would be quite the same as takin a kid's computer away (you catch my sneaky drift?)
whatever, good thread zippow
