"Get a life" Well I think it's kind a complicated subject because everyone uses that word for different purpose, some guys uses that when they are jelous. Example, many player said that to kayne when he reached a top 1 place and I think most of them were a bit jelous. Some guys says that when they have heard how much hes friend have played cs lately and they just wanna "help" I mean I said that word when I want people to understand that lost youth is BAD! I don't mean I personally have lost it completely but some parts, yes! In real life example. I was with my friends at local bar and we started to think how nice it was be "teen" (16 or some) Then ofc. we started to remember funniest stories and things from the past and after while I realized that I've missed quite a lot, and I felt bad ofc. And I was never "super geek" I've always spended most of weekends outside, partying and chillinnn. But still if you play too much you will miss important events. So guys play cs as much as you want but be careful that you won't playing cs at home when you friends are having fun or you will feel like me someday! Get the balance right, and make hundreds wr and have a great rl at the same time!
Sorry guys if my text is unclear, and my english ain't the best neither! :D

Lucky me I haven't missed much of my life at age of 14-18. I think that was the one best part of my life. That's exactly what I am talking about. Playing computer games is a drug, because I had such friends who played WoW and I was really sorry for them, because while some of my friends were doing sports, attending parties, experiencing different things, started working, going out with girls, discuss interesting subjects and develop interesting themes and ideas, making crazy things and enjoying life, others were simply staying in front of the computer and playing online games, which made them miss the real fun. Then you wake up from a computer hibernation at the age of 20 and understand what big mistake you've done.
Some of you might think that cs is much fun, though I wouldn't rate it that way. You can play of course cs, I myself play, but you don't have to play it constantly(every day for example). Yeah it's normal to play lets say max 15-20 hours/2 weeks, even though that's actually too much. The thing is that you don't realize it now, you realize it when you grow up. Tell me: how old is kayne for example(no offence I am not saying you have no life or things like that, but you are top1 which means you must constantly play to keep it)? 19? 18? Why don't I see any kreedzer that plays constantly at the age of 25+ for example? Ask them, ask and see what they answer you. Yeah time changes and things change the way we don't expect, many start putting computer on first place in their life, though same people don't realize that computer games will bring you nothing but damaged eyes, lost time, lower attention at things, vulnerable health, constant fatigue. The computer will make you not be sure of your powers and skills in reality, will make you become shy, become unsure. These are not all the effects of the computer games playing. It's not a problem for a person who lived his life to the fullest and then plays lets say 2-3 weeks a game constantly or for a person who is just bored for a period or stressed, but it is a problem when a young person with opportunities of having fun, of doing sport, of going out prefers playing computer games constantly for months lets say instead of other outdoor activities.
So I do agree with people who say "Get a life" and mean by this "Leave this game and see the world, go out and have fun".
We're all different. It doesn't concern anyone else whatever you enjoy doing, aslong as you enjoy what you're doing yourself.
and wow honestly mystery, did you read your own text coz thats total bullshit.
i dont think i'd trade anything over the 4-5 years that i've spend so far lol. and thats fucking honest. had so many irreplaceable great times along the run.

wow dude.. You don't have a clue of what you're talking about.
You're just putting stereotypes over here like "computer = no girl" or "computer = you don't go to any party" and stuff like that. You're not what you're defining as a "no life", how could you possibly know what these people (because yes, they are people too, not just animals in front of a computer bro) feel or do ? I enjoy spending time in front of my computer, a lot of time, it's my work station too, but I go to parties, I enjoy my real life as much as my virtual life and these things. Yet i'm 17. Plus check out pruno. He was a top recorder months ago and I believe he's more than 30 years old. This does not mean he failed his life. You can't tell if people are failing their life because of computer, you can't tell what your stereotypes tell you. Like computer = shy and stuff, that's all BULLSHITS.
No offense too, but get a clue of what the fuck you're talking about before throwing up stereotypes bro.

It doesn't matter if you put a thousand words together to make it look like an essay, your still the "stereotype" that im trying to prevent by making this thread.
Do you really have that much of a clouded mind that you believe what you are saying`?
Your saying that computer games brings you nothing but damage to your physical health?
Why in the world, would someone that pays 500$ for a kz oldschool movie, claim that computer games does not give you joy? and it doesnt matter if you said that if you play it alot, it does.
cause thats exactly what you said.

I was thinkin' 'bout that to, who the fuck would pay 500$ for a fucking kz movie and at the same time say that gamers are some kind of fucking loners that don't got jobs, good life etc.. Srsly man.
As I said earlier; If you enjoy wasting time, is that time really wasted?
Though I have to agree with "Cola" here, when I was younger, around 2008, 2009 when I played as the most. I missed alot of events and such fun shit, yes I did that. But, I had alot of fun with my URL friends also(even if I fellt sometimes to go to a party, but I didn't), even IRL friends, cause I had some IRL friends that enjoyed playing KZ, trickjumping. Though they wasn't as good as me, but it still was fun. They asked me question about jumps, how to them, how to pull of different techniques and I answerd with pleasure. But I was lucky that I realised that gaming is not the whole fun part of life, and I started going to parties etc after I finished ninth grade, I actually was drunk for the first time same day as I finished ninth grade. Atleast what I'm trying to say with this is that you can have alot of fun even infront of the computer, and your not some kind of loner just because you like video games.. It's fucking retarded to think that way.
I will re-formulate my idea, since it was a lil blurry even for me(I wrote it at ~1 am).
It is a problem when a young person with opportunities of having fun, of doing sport, of going out prefers playing computer games constantly for months lets say instead of other outdoor activities. For those who didn't understand I was speaking about people who are addicted to it and play it on a daily basis for months. I ain't speakin about ppl who just play it from time to time for a fun reason. What I said about damaged health is absolutely true, again of course if you r geekin' it. ? As I said there is no problem for those who just play it from to time. You should have understood from my post that, though I guess it was a too blury idea to get the point since you started commenting only on some of the ideas. I didn't mean to offend anyone or start wars here, chill out, I'm all for discussion, though I guess a person's opinion must be respected actually since that's what a communication presumes: exchanged information between two or more people.
All in all. I still agree with people who use the experession "get a life", even though it's not that correct. I mean: the experession should actually sound like this: "Don't be too addicted to this computer, since it actually harms you if you play it too much". But as I said above everyone has an opinion and everyone has rights and obligations, even though I'm more into anarchy or communism than democracy.(I don't want to discuss about my political view, this is my opinion and you won't change it .[dot])
where can i get one?

Your still missing the point here, We are not discussing the damages you get from playing computer, if that was the topic. i could bring up how much the "real world activities " would harm you which is very retarded to start of with.
The topic says, define get a life. not how does being addicted to computer game affect your health.
What i wanted to say with this post was that everyone chooses their own path, and they should be respected for it instead of flamed.
Your still saying stuff that are not only irrelevant but also you are prejudging people whom i am speaking of to be stereotypes, atleast the stereotype that you imagine.
Originally posted by WeMeRAAs I said earlier; If you enjoy wasting time, is that time really wasted?
This shit is da fucking paradox of the month. At least for me. :D
OT : As ZippoW said, you're still missing the point. Of course people have rights to believe things, having opinions, you have yours, and all of us have ours aswell. Problem is that you're saying ppl have opinions and shall be respected for it, but yet you're still condemning people that make a choice between a party (for example) and a gaming night / evening..
I don't wanna make you change your opinion of course, and i'm chilled and here to discuss aswell. I just can't understand how people can see their people that way I mean.. We all are humans. What does it does if A prefers gaming than parties like B? Sometime people just have life issues, or just don't wanna go to parties (at least private ones) because people are just too jerk. I never go to "private parties" like in a house or stuff for example because I don't smoke any drug, and people out there are just being jerk with you if you are not into it.
And 100% of the time i'll rather spend a night on a game if that's the case. Yet am I a "no life" because i'm missing an occasion to party? Not really. I just feel like you're comparing humans and animals, that's what's bothering me there.
Anyway, I don't wanna make you change your mind, just change your vision at least of the people that enjoy virtual experiences as much as real experiences (that's again a matter of personnal taste. If there is no sport that fits your lifestyle or whatever reason, why would you practice one?)
EDIT : Oh and I don't know if I talked about it earlier, but man, if you say that Internet does not teach you anything.. Holy shit bro. Internet is the first teacher worldwide. I've never knew so many things in science before I started looking for science things over the internet. And that's what I'm looking for in sciences, class stuff isn't enough I dunno how to explain that. Anyway :) Each has his opinion, and each deserves respect of himself for being and acting the way he does, because there ALWAYS is a reason underneath it.

I know a guy whos dyslexic and school didn't learn him shit. Ever since he got a computer he have been able to write fluently danish AND english. Obviously it took some years but school wouldn't be able to learn him that. And never did :-) fucking insane.
Get a life is a phrase used by insecure xenophobes as a response to someone that has different hobbies , intresests or attitudes to themselves. Those xenophobes think that they have alot of friends but .. Nobody Cares.
hes saying if u spend too much time at yard then it will definately fuk u up mentally, psychologically and physically aswell.
That u need to have a balance but being outside life part should take a lot more priority, games and that should jus be on the side when u got nothing to do "lets jus bang out some cs u know" - u get me?
i dunno why people try justify playing games all day long thats jus wasted. People need to be more open and confident nd more familiar with their society not jus indoors and stick to ureself -most of the time-
meaning obviously where ure at yard the motive for the day has been done nd jus bang out some games.
its not even a big thing, people make it out like a big thing cuz some people are jus addicted to this shit and cant stop thats jus wasted nd they need to change now! truss
thats right ^

This thread is not about someone being addicted to anything its simply about spending alot of time doing something that you enjoy.
My point with this thread was merely to engligthen those who start to flame someone that has reached success in a game by spending alot of time and practise into it.
I've got to agree with MrMystery on this, to a certain level.
Ofc, if you make a wr, people should be giving you credits for it instead of "flaming" them as you put it, ZippoW. On the other hand, if this person has been spending let's say, 5-6 years of his/hers best years as a teenager, before making this/these wr/s, it would just be idiotic. Given that the person has been playing the game frequently for those years wich most of the "pros" have done.
As people have mentioned, having a good balance of a good social life and gaming life would probably be the best option for more then one reason. Mostly because letting the computer take over your life and keeping you inside instead of being out having fun with friends is just plain stupid.
Sure, knowledge in ex programming or other computer-related subjects can give you alot of good jobs if you have enough knowledge in it or a degree in it. But ex playing hns/kreedz is not going to pay of. Imo if you are determined to sit around at the computer a long time, start reading about programming, learn graphic designing, stuff you can do on a computer that you enjoy and you can make a living out of.
It's never to late to go out and start "having a life"(Having a social life outside the computer) wich, in my oppinion would be a definition of "getting a life", let go of the computer, atleast get out more and decrease the hours you spend each day at the computer. That, that would be my definition of "Getting a life". Sorry if shit doesn't make sense, since i'm also bound to the computer in this addiction-like way, i'm writing whilst being quite tired.
(Another way of seing it is that you can't "get a life" again, since you parents already gave you that gift the day you were "made"/born. Meh, what do I know!)
That's my two pennies worth!
One does not simply , define ''get a life''..
