Mission: Make Xtreme-jumps a better place to
Don't we all miss the old Xtreme-jumps where people actually were nice to eachother, where you wouldn't log on only to find out that 20 guys were spamming for release when you know that Vee is working his ass off to make sure that the demos that we are providing are legit and follows the rules?
Dont we all miss the Xtreme-jumps where you didn't see hundreds of flame posts and offensive behaviour from half of the members?
Well you know what, it can all be changed.
Recently there's been an overload of bad behaviour on XJ and as an admin I feel like speaking out towards the community to HOPEFULLY get something to change before we start going down the wrong path.
Do you care for XJ? If you do then show that, give people who contributes with good stuff feedback, show respect towards other members of the community. Treat others like you want to be treated yourself.
It's very easy to be negative when you don't know how things are dealt with, however, dropping negative posts because you aren't satisfied will in 9/10 cases make it worse or lower the motivation of the admins doing it because you don't appreciate what they are doing, you take it for granted.
Try to view things from multiple perspectives before you post things and most important of all THINK before you post stuff.
If everyone tried to contribute to this community it would not only make it a more fun place to be but it would help the admins to take initiatives and come up with ideas FOR the community because you guys deserve it.
Hopefully this thread will do something good, and feel free to discuss this matter.
It cant be flowers and rainbows all the time.It is very simple why people are falming and being negative towards each other - real life. How can someone be calm when for example he had a hard day at work with nervous clients,or bad day in school with fail results on test or something else. And in the end of the day, when they want to just relax and enjoy their favourite game and community, they see chaters, spammers and so on. Of course that provokes.
The release thing. As i said recently in the chatbox.Release is a treat for all members. When there is a release every week, everyone is happy and no one asks for releases, but when you delay it with 16 days or more people start coplaining. It is not hard to check 2-3 demos per day and you can't convince me in the opposite. If Vee don't have enough time, why he is a admin (nothing against Vee personally)?Pick new admins that will spare more time for this community. You pick admins to do something and then you say how they don't have time or something else for XJ.
We voted for small and fast releases in the past. Was that just a random question or a way to make this community better? When there are 5-10 demos in the release,i personally enjoy each demo.Download them right away and watch them. But when there are like 30+ demos, what's the point?I will download like 50% of the demos (only the best) and ignore the other ones, because they seem lame compared to the good ones.
Тhe botom line is that fast releases keeps the members satisfied like timing and like demos.
Admins keep blaming the members, but the problem isn't there. How can we get a warning for asking for a release? This is the most ridiculous thing ever.We don't ask for this after 5-6 days after the release, but after more than 10 days and it is normal to do that.At least when there is a delay, post a news - reason and some approximate time when to expect the new wr's.
This is my opinion on this topic.Hope it helps somehow.
Totally agree with 2Dex
strong words 2Dex
About the release thing...
2Dex, it's not like u put 3 demos in fps death and done
Show some respect to this guy, he's making releases all the time. If you dont want to wait so long, find a guy that know how to check demos and have enough time. I guess after a long time its getting boring, u cant find time to check demos, or u're just simply lazy.
About the warning for asking about the release...
I got an idea...
Just add a "smaller" shoutbox up to the global one but change premison "just for admins".
So, only admins could speak there, they will post about "delays" of releases there, and smaller news etc.
Im bringing that idea cuz of i dont want to see front page spammed with THE RELEASE WILL BE DELAYED, THE RELEASE WILL BE LATER, THE RELEASE WILL OCCUR TOMMOROW, TOMMOROW reLEASE ETC XD
good 2dex
there are some problems with ur way of thinking 2Dex. First of all the Xj staff cant pick a random guy to be a demo admin. I think that this position is one of the more important ones on xj and u cant pick a new guy who has never been admin and let him do the demo checking.
Small releases would be nice, i agree. But what would the recorders think if they submit their demos and these are only released after 2 other releases. People will complain about being not liked, or other people being more important then them.
If i were an admin i would not want discussions like that, so no small releases.
I honestly believe that Vee is doing a good job, because i know that there are times when u are very busy and dont have much time for xj (exams for example), but these time s always come to an end.
So i would suggest that the guys who want xj to be better apply as admins and make it better, or we have to deal with some delays.

xj seems the same as it always seemed, imo. There were always spammer/troll/flamer or whatever you call them. And there will always be... It's part of every forum and as an admin you should have already understood that.
[blockquote]offensive behaviour from half of the members?[/blockquote]
seriously..? i dont see many guys who constantly flame here, maybe like 5 or 6 ones, why do you even bother?
and about the negative posts of some users, again, you got it ALL wrong. if a lot of ppl re still complaining about one thing or another thing, it just proves that there is something wrong. They complain because they DO care about XJ, maybe you should think about that. (+ funny how you dont seem to see when there are positive feedbacks... and there are)
If negative posts lower your motivation, well you already know what you have to do... sorry to be a bit harsh but this is how I see things.
[blockquote]Try to view things from multiple perspectives before you post things and most important of all THINK before you post stuff.
[/blockquote]
Have you done that yourself?
+my little advice if you wanna "make XJ a better place": KAFDS
I think deleting this http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?102905 thread would help alot.

This is exactly the type of behaviour that I'm reffering to, the one where you take things for granted and assume that admins are bots and not human beings.
If you would have read my thread and thought before you posted you would realize that what i meant by not giving negative feedback is that giving positive feedback or trying to SOLVE the problem/ giving ideas on how to solve the problem rather than stomping down on the ones in question is much more efficient and it does more good than bad.
This post was simply written as a suggestion, not a demand.
I know that there will most likely always be flamers but why go about without trying to change that? There's nothing wrong with questioning or enlightening people on how to act in order to get the best possible result, or in this case atmosphere.
well I dont agree with you on the negative/positive comments. I think that enlightening issues and lack is as efficient if not more than giving positive feedbacks.
and ideas/feedbacks have already been given many times.
and yes i read your thread and the fact that i tried to give u my opinion doesnt mean that i want to bring XJ down huh... i hope u get that
It's simple though finzEr, If there were faster ways of getting demos out they would have been used. As alphazz said we can't pick anyone to do demo-releases and you're totally wrong when it comes to feedback, assumptions and nags removes the fun in doing something for members.
i wasn't talking about the demos release, i dont know shit about how this thing works... plus I see some contradictions here : you say that you want some new ideas and positive feedback from members and then you say that you've already thought about everything that can be done about demo release and that theres nothing more you can do about that, so our opinions/ideas dont really matter on this subject, right? ... just wanted to point that out.
i do think its great to have negative and postive feedbacks... the forum would be so fuckin boring if everyone had the same opinion.
btw, heres a recent exemple of great stuff you, admins, did and everyone was happy http://xtreme-jumps.eu/comment.php?comment.news.1649. 0 negative comments..
so please dont come up with "the recent overload of bad behaviour and negative stuff".
There's no contradiction, I said that rather than giving negative feedback you could give that, it was an option to prevent people from spamming "RELEASE SOON?"
This thread was briefly to make people aware that they should reconsider spamming for stuff and appreciate what they have.

Also lets delete LJ Records, Longjumping section and all that shit yea...
Kick off longjumping from Kreedz, it is and it will be always part of it.
and you failed... but hey it's fine, everyone can make mistakes 'cuz as you previously said, admins are human beings not bots.

You can't fail in making people aware of your opinion, however if they choose to agree or disagree thats another story.
This "mission" seems like wrong way...
