how to restore your cs.

Hi people i'm here to post a small tutorial for restoring your cs before the "broken valveâ„¢ update"

1.go to the new directory ...steam/steamapps/common/Hal-Llife and delete all the folders and archives from Half-life folder. "save your config, demos and maps, or the complete cstrike folder.
2. Download http://www.sendspace.com/file/iyqg98 unzip it and put on Half-Life folder.
3. Do NOT OPEN CS.
4. Open steam on library, right click on Counter-Strike go to properties, on updates put "Do not automatically update this game"
5. if my english is understandable and you did it all ok, your cs should be working as it was before update.

6. on the first times trying to connect to some server my cs crashed but now it's normal.

When I think my problem was solved... I saw that when 3 bars left to join a server, the cs just crash and it seems like "not responding". I've tried with 5 servers and its the same :/

this happened to me too but I keep trying and one of the attempts my cs didn't crashed and started working without issues.

This happends because servers are updated too[main steam server](?)
I have my old Counter-Strike folder, tried with it, same problem.

Followed all your steps. But when I wanna start CS, this error pops up:

"Failed to start steam game (missing executable)"

??

did you put your old files or my archives? you have hl.exe on halflife folder?

They have created CS:GO and enforced to play it.

Now they ruined cs 1.6 with very "interesting" update...

btw ... the plugin doesn't work for me ... i got an error from lblist ... we need to wait for xj to fix the plugin too? or? is it from my pc?

download this liblist.gam http://www.sendspace.com/file/i8chks and put it into X:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\cstrike

MY FPS IS SUCKING UP !!!! KEEPF FLOATING FROM 20 TO 60 !!!! in some parts of the map gets 99, but only in a few parts..
Before update my fps was always 100 -.-
HELP !

I have the same problem, and I don't have hl.exe because you said delete all folders and archives in the half-life folder. What did you mean by 'archives'? What is an archive file?

Yea these instructions must be incomplete because they don't make sense.

1) Explain what you are supposed to do with the stuff you save. Delete all of the folders? Really? Are you sure? Also, there are no archive files in Half-Life, only .dlls, .asi, and .exe.
2) The file you've provided contains a folder called 'counter-strike' which is invalid for the directory Half-Life. Are we to assume we extract cstrike from one level up instead?
3 & 4) Make sense
5) Instructions followed, game not working now. Reinstalling.

I can open cs but i can't open options, servers and so on... Does anyone knows how to fix this ?

by the way i'm using win7.
