Story-based games

yeah I liked the walking dead season 1 pretty much, haven't tested the season 2 yet

I mostly play indie games like Papa & yo or some other small game that tell you a hidden story that you might understand only when you finish the game

Played all of the ones mentioned above, still none of them are as good as Spec Ops: The Line when it comes to story. I won't spoil it, so I'll just inform you that the game will leave its mark, trust me.

TWD season 1 was good, very good, but not the best. It was getting boring towards the end. I'd say the high point is the episode when they're on that farm. That was some sick shit.

For Story driving is Alan Wake a must have to play for sure.
Remedy did a nice job on it

Indeed thats a great game ... I loved the most important thing in game to enjoy the storyline: find the written pages! It was happening exactly how it was written ... damn! + the story is messed up at some point and you barely understand anything, then it hits you. :)

I tried Bioshock 1 ~20%,
then Bioshock 2 ~15% ...
I really liked the game but I stopped cuz it seems booring. Should I go for Infinite tho?

BioShock Infinite has the worst gameplay out of the 3 games, in my opinion, but very interesting story. Gameplay is meh, vigors feel boring and useless compared to the tonics of BioShock 1 > Infinite > BioShock 2.

Don't forget to play Red Dead Redemption, it's like a western GTA with an amazing story. Great twists and such.

Mass Effect series is a good choice if you like sci-fi RPGs.

I doubt any game history will top half life story, at least that's how I feel it

The Walking Dead has very interesting and intriguing story, but it wasnt really fascinating for me. I enjoyed it quite a lot non the less.

Bioshock series is one of the best games I ever played. First one stands out above all for me, it has great storyline and atmosphere with very good and balanced gameplay. Second game is more of a sidestory so it cant compete with the rest, but its still very interesting and worth playing along with dlc. Infinite is a shiny masterpiece, due to a lot of blur and wow factors; though huge letdowns were random and sometimes unjustified gameplay (which is still fair and decent) and unbalanced story pace (you are given bits and pieces during the game and then enormous info dump in the very end). I find first game to be a lot better in that regard. Burial at sea DLC episodes could become a forth game if they were longer I suppose, because they contribute both to Columbia and Rapture storylines and tie them together along with some loose ends left behind, which is nontrivial and fascinating conclusion to the series so far.

Story always been priority for me in single player game. I thoroughly enjoyed such games like Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Metro series, Two Brothers.

To The Moon was another fascinating experience I had lately, its simply astonishing. The games layout is very simple, but it provides incredible emotional involvement and mindblowing ending (but with almost inexisting gameplay).

Personally I dont consider Half-Life story as something extraordinary as of now, it has great setup and relatively weak developing, which mainly relies on gameplay alone. There are a lot of such games.

Never been a fan of point-and-click games, though some of those have certain appeal and quite intriguing story ... I rather prefer to watch someone else play these, but I forced myself through couple of those as well.

spr1n, I just might give Bioshock another chance ... I'm sure the story will capture me at some point.

Hei, there is a new game coming out called "SILENT HILLS", which is the revival of "Silent Hill" series. As we all know, the first 2 parts were a masterpiece, but then everything went down hill. I've seen the "Playable Teaser" which is incredible regarding the atmosphere ... truth is: japanese always knew how to create horror!
You can watch the gameplay here but as it is long, you'll probably find it abit booring. Personally I can't wait for it to come out & I'm gonna sell my Xbox just for PS3/4 ... if xbox doesn't get exclusive content, ps will win the 'war' :)

Another trilogy that I loved: F.E.A.R.
It was in 2008 when I tried the 1st part and I was shocked! The jumpscares were clever, the atmosphere was great at some points + the storyline was catchy and misterious enough to want more.
Then I played the 2nd part ... it wasn't that "amazing" for me at the beginning, but the storyline kept getting better towards the end. Anyway, that game left a mark on me because of the "hallway" scary part. I sincerely don't believe anyone can play that without getting scared or terified.
As for the 3rd part .. it relied mainly on the story, tho the gameplay wasn't that booring enough to make you quit. The best part was at the "mall" with the 'zombies' (or whatever), with the TVs and all. I finished it on singleplayer solo, then with a friend (he was the brother).
I wouldn't say F.E.A.R. is a great horror shooting game ... the gameplay is 'decent', but the story makes up for it big time!
Any thoughts?
