Hello everyone! I'm from Gosugamers and I'm currently trying to work on a feature about KZ, the history, community, specific techniques, etc. I was wondering if anybody here can point me towards someone that has been instrumental in the development in the KZ scene as well as maybe some well respected map makers, would be a great help. I just it would be cool to shed some light on the communities in cs that are outside of competitive. Blasdfa sent me here. Thank you in advanced for all your help, it should be a very fun piece to write about.

If you are interested, add me on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Moxx/
I've been involved since the start (which would make it 2003 ish) both administration wise, as well as mapping and movie making, wouldn't mind helping you out a bit.

Nice, thank you! I write for gosugamers.net, we usually cover competitive CSGO news, matches, etc. But yeah the KZ community is pretty damn interesting. Blasdfa is a CSGO KZer, has a bunch of records. From what I've gathered so far is that the KZ scene is predominately in 1.6 cause of the limiting movement in GO. But the GO scene is on the upswing at the moment so it's pretty cool to see all these communities expanding.

As for myself have published some features on the NA CSGO scene and some news regarding team changes, tournament announcements.

Cant forget about people like me and Raptor. We gave 1.6 CS KZ its own game on the HL2 Source engine (Kreedz Climbing or KZmod) with the same movement physics as the old engine used in 1.6. Sort of surprised no one mentioned this.
Just an idea.
I also worked directly with Kreedz :D

Yes SF i was thinking at you when i wrote the post above..but i remembered you are offline for so long so just SadPuppy was in my mind as the only still active mapper who knew/worked with KreedZ :P
Glad to see you back online:D
Lukekk, there is another great mapper who worked with KreedZ[ the creator of KZ :) ] so you can try to ask some Q's if SoulFather has some time :D

Try getting in contact with Supa, he is a legend in the kz scene both 1.6 and cs:go. You can find his twitch http://www.twitch.tv/supaztv at that link. He pretty regularly streams cs:go kz albeit he only has one monitor so isn't too interactive with chat until he gets another monitor.

Couldn't say better SuPa = King here

yeah I remember kzmod, overhyped since the start and got shut down because it wasn't popular enough. What is a game without a playerbase?

KZmod still exists and is played whether there's a million or only 100.

Mathzz01/10/2014 01:24(edited 01/10/2014 05:43)

It's not like what he said isn't true, as sad as it might be to realize for the developers. It's just how it is, Kzmod was hyped and it didn't deliver in that aspect.
However it has potential, I see that. But I am just not sure how it can improve unless 1.6 kz is shut completely. Majority of the people including me still prefer 1.6, even though it's not perfect, but that's the beauty of it. Not to mention, most of the casual players that are not exactly active players probably just join a random kz server when they are bored once every blue moon. Needless to say, it's highly unlikely they would ever install an entire game just to play it for a few minutes. This is where 1.6 has the upper hand.

Personally I don't understand where they want to go with kzmod, is it just a spin off game made to please the current players or do they want people outside our small community to play it. I didn't exactly get an answer on the other thread where I wrote a huge wall of text about how I felt the game was.. But I definitely got the vibe that they didn't want the game to go mainstream (or at least reach a certain population), which leaves me wondering: What is the future of the game then, and why would it be a better choice than the game we already have?

I also want to point out that this can be misinterpreted, but hopefully you can see it from my point of view and maybe understand my intentions. Because I am not here to offend anyone, just trying to seek for answers and understanding to my questions regarding kzmod.

WeMeRA01/10/2014 09:04

Why is kzmod being discussed under this topic? :P

Screw it, I'm gonna start playing some kzmod again.

What was holding you away from it?

Well I guess I just don't have time to game solo nowadays really. Studies and work keeps me occupied, so whenever I got time to play, it's HoM3 with some friends.
