Mouse movement causes fps drop
This problem seems unfixable... everytime I move my mouse my fps drops and it is impossible to play autobhop. I tried every fix imaginable and nothing works... I hope someone here can have an idea.
Specs (I know it's very old and outdated but it can play CS just fine with no problems):
CPU AMD FX8320 @3.5 GHZ Black Edition water cooled by an H100i v2. It cannot be overheating as the highest temperature I've seen in this CPU using this water cooler was of 42ºc a hot day with 100% usage. Most of the time it sits at 16ºc idle and around 30 - 35ºc under load.
GPU Zotac GTX760 2GB with also good temperatures.
MOBO Gigabyte 970a-d3p
RAM is some Kingston 1333 HZ DDR3
PSU Corsair CX750w 80+ Bronze
Keyboard Corsair Strafe RGB MX Red
Mouse Logitech G403
Headset Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma
OS installed in a Kingston A400 120GB SSD
HDD 1TB Seagate Barracuda
This is baffling me, I've been searching for a long time now and nothing works. I really have to finish an autobhop project but I can't test and release the map or play autobhop because of this FPS problem. The FPS is stable until I move my mouse. I hope someone here can help me with this.
Use 500hz on your mouse instead of 1000
Is it only in CS 1.6 or in other games too?
Maybe m_rawinput 1/0 ?
BTW try to upgrade/downgrade your video drivers.

Happens in 1.6 and CSGO, seemed to happen on Killing Floor as well. Changing to rawinput 1 and 0 does not help and it just makes the mouse feel very awkward. :(

Does not work. :(
1st and most important: How big are the fps drops?
(Looking around the map even when standing still makes your hardware work to generate that image for you and "send it" to the monitor, moving (jumping) makes it even harder for the cpu and gpu to do that job quickly enough (=fps drops))
I ask that question because if I play on a big map - my old pc is struggling to generate the image if I am facing parts of the map which are really far but with a lot of detail or many blocks. I'm talking about drops 100-74fps. (which is normal in MY case) my cpu is from 2008. But you have a fairly new rig and I hope you find the reason for that problem.
2. What Hz (refresh rate) is the monitor producing right now & what is the default hz (probably 60 if it is not a gaming monitor).

If I have like 400 fps it drops below 180, it's unplayable. I can move around using the keyboard just fine without drops but as soon as I move the mouse the fps drop. As for the refresh, rate it is 144hz but it was happening before I even got this monitor.
- Check the fps by using another mouse
- Check if you have the drivers updated
- Check if your graphics card is working properly
I have all the latest drivers and everything working properly. I tested with another mouse and the problem still persists.
what is your cs launch options ? and if your monitor is 60hz there could be problem also with that.
I tested every launch option and nothing works. Like I said above I have a 144hz monitor and was already having this problem.
move your client from ssd to hdd or other way around
I can't imagine having to move my absolutely massive 1.6 folder after the test. I guess I'll not do this one.
Try No Steam Gorba, I don't see any other option
Looks like there is an issue with the drivers (video or mouse).
If you haven't tried DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html ) I'd suggest to do that and then install different versions of video drivers.
Other options:
1. If you have multiple monitors setup - disable secondary displays temporarily
2. Disable in-game overlays (discord, windows gamemod or xbox idk, steam overlay, etc)
3. Check CPU load while moving your mouse in-game (with afterburner) and in windows. If there are any usage spikes - take a look at the task manager and see what is going on there.
4. I remember like 10 years ago I had the same issue caused by AIMP (audio player). I had pretty weak CPU though but maybe some software is catching mouse input during the game for some reason.
Did all this and the problem still persists. The GPU usage simply drops when I move the mouse. I tried every fix imaginable and can't fucking fix this.
Windows set to high perf power profile?
Yes. Tried everything related ot it.
I feel you buddy, hopefully u don’t lose motivation because of it just like I did, still struggling with it since years now.
If I ever find something that could help I will try and pm u about it..
One last thing from my side, turn V-Sync off from your graphics menu
It was always off.
