Yes, if you are downloading/uploading while playing CS.

windows drivers = teh sux. i recently reformatted and have no internet, so im stuck with em for another few days. so laggy! btw how much does a lower resolution help? ive gotten used to using a higher resolution and i really like it, so i only want to switch if it helps substantially

I have P4 3.2Ghz, ATI X800XL 512mb and 2gigs of ram (this is my old PC) and the FPS is jumping like crazy between 60-80-99 fps no matter what I do. In 1920x1200 (on a HDTV) it's 80 and with 1280x1024 and 640x480 .. guess what - same. No matter what res I use it's all the same fps. And no matter what settings I use. It just drops down randomly ... ideas? vsync - off. AA, AF etc - 2x (minimum). :( And plus it doesn't matter what confing I use too. developer 1 doesn't fix anything... fps max is allways 101

snoOzeD28/12/2007 01:37

i have nVidia 8600... my v-sync is off but still in some maps i can get 100 fps like in sn_beachcliff i have about 50~60 fps

snoOzeD28/01/2008 13:49

or maybe i need good drivers for gaming ;/ can somebody give me link drivers for cs

Sinnes7k28/04/2008 22:05

Where do I turn off V-Sync

Trickster05/05/2008 19:32

...ehhh....
Sooooo frustrating...dumbass' :E
The problem IS NOT V-SYNC JESUS .....
I bet you guys have no idea what v-sync is(?)
usually monitor frames per second standard are atleast 60 that's why valve has set the default value to 60.
But that doesn't mean that you will have to turn v-sync off to get 100 fps (if your monitor really supports 100hz at the resolution you are playing) becouse you can overide this default value by putting "-freq (your frames)" to; My Games -> Counter-Strike -> Properties -> Set Launch Options. example -freq 100, but u have to make sure your monitor support's 100hz at the resolution you are playing cs. But if u use tft monitor you have to turn vsync off because tft monitors dont yet use over about 75hz at lower resolutions, but the usual is 60hz.
but even if u turn off vsync and u start game and it says u have 100hz. that is your computers speed that it draws pictures not the speed that your computer draws those pictures to your monitor.(=not real fps)
So when you turn v-sync off, it doesnt show your real fps, it will show the computers drawing speed, not the monitors. and the monitor hz is the ONLY THING THAT really matters.
aaaand. IF your monitor will support 100hz at the resolution you are playing CS, i can only recommend to put v-sync on and putting -freq 100, you will see the difference, the game will work soooo smoothly, couse without v-sync the game will look ragged (you wont see the differens if you have always played with v-sync off) and i bet you guys can do more units on lj/cj and so on. Its just a waste of grapchic card/monitor/whole computer if you put v-sync off (if you are not using tft)
now if someone is still playing with crt monitor(v-sync off) (wich supports 100hz) i wanna meet him/her personally and laugh at him/her, couse s/he is an idiot :) thanks

It's normal to have bad fps in a bad map like that. You need a really good CPU in CS.

"all you need is love...ehh, good monitor.!" THATS ALL FOR FK SAKES! i have computer with 800mHZ, 512 RAM and nvidia 440MX graphic card, BUT i have good monitor CRT, and i have 100FPS on every fking map.
conclusion: you need good monitor for 100fps, nothing else.
and if you have tft monitor, you wont get more then 75HZ (or what ever your monitor can do [usually 75])
and im speaking about real fps not the fps you have when you turn v-sync off ^^ GG

or how did you guys think that the old players got 100fps when cs came out?
there were not computers like nowdays. i think you all know that.
