It's the story of a man, who's just returning home from prison. He wants a straight way of life far from his former life. But everyone he knows are criminals and one night , he assaults a policeman to help one of his friend escape.Then, a sort of manhunt ensues.
It's a great movie which shows a side of New York that we're not used to see. Not really beautiful or glamorous.The way the director shot the different links/relationships between the mob and the city administration is really interesting. Also stunning acting performance of Mark Wahlberg & Joaquin Phoenix.
This film is dark and complex. it's not easy to summarize it, there are a lot of things to say about it. It's one of the best Gray's movies with Little Odessa & We Own the Night. These three films are all about complex family issues and are all interesting!

I'm lazy, can't write a decent critic of these movies...
Well, i've just watched Drive. Already a classic.
I knew that Nicolas W. Refn (director) was a genius,he proved it movies after movies (Pusher 1, 2, 3 Bronson, Vahlalla Rising), and he does it again with Drive. The direction of the film is AMAZING, very stylish. The film is extremely beautiful and lush, visually speaking. Plus, the way NWR shot L.A. by night is awesome, it reminds the best of Micheal Mann's and William Friedkin's movies.
It's a very slow and hipnotic movie, a sort of slow burn. And sometimes, the slowness is stopped by some acts of extreme violence, always done perfectly ( first time i saw a head hit by a shotgun with such beauty!).The use of specific camera angles made the scenes incredibly powerful even if the actors didn't say anything.
About the cast, once again, its great : Ryan Gosling perfect , playing the role of the (very) silent driver. Also stunning performance of Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston & Ron Perlman
I think i can talk about this movie for hours (the awesome 80's like soundtrack, the good use of slowmo, relationship between the main characters or the FUCKING MEGA SUPER AWESOME intro which directly sent me shivers down my spine :D). If you guys watched it, please write your impressions.
Oh and I rate it 10/10, just 'cause it deserves it

Was bored first 20 minutes watching it, but then I realized I can't take my eyes off the screen. Despite the fact that the idea is not the best, they managed to make the audience feel the way they wanted to. And Hugh Jackman is real as always.

of course everyone have their own tastes, BUT I think this is one of the best movie so far. The idea is incredible : "Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared." This girl - she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary!

One of the best movie experience i've had this year. Silent black&white movie dealing with the evolution of the 7th art : Brilliant idea!
Since its a silent film, it's all about the cinematography: the film is visually very beautiful, some framings were amazingly directed. Great use of shots/reverse shots.
The acting is also outstanding. Jean Dujardain deserved his Palme d'Or.
he is REALLY captivating and so is the rest of the casting (also the dog!)
it's really worth watching it. (+ its french!)

I would give it maybe a 7/10 it was good end to the series but it was far from as good as some of the others :)
