16/01/2012 22:40I don't know how many of you are into photography, but this is one purpose of this thread.
There are already 2 threads about photography, but they only deal with pictures of you or your own pictures, nothing else.
I noticed that some of you recently acquired rather good gear (Reflex cameras (hi markaN)), this is why I thought it'd be interesting to create this thread, to also share experience and stuff.
Don't feel shy because you don't have a Reflex camera, as soon as you like photography, your gear does not matter.
I think we all start with cheap compact cameras so...
Anyway, what's your camera(s) and lens(es) guys?

MagicLantern firmware - it has some cool improvements above the original Canon firmware, but I don't know yet how to set Auto White Ballance there :/ anyone who use this firmware and knows that?

An intervalometer from ebay, cheap CPL, ND and UV filters also from ebay :D
I'm also into DSLR moviemaking, so I've got new Zoom H1 audio recorder, which has great sound quality, but the only thing I hate about it is the plastic hole for tripod screw. :E if anyone gets this recorder, you should be really careful about that, you can easily fck that up :/

Great thread, doesn't actually got any gear atm but I would appreicate if you guys could give some tips on a pretty decent camera for 1000€. Just a great camera that you'll be able to film clips with and ofc take pictures. Focus effect is a must!

Sure we can, even if I'm sure we won't be sharing the same opinions (Nikon vs Canon :D). I've personally never tested any Nikon DSLR camera so I can only give my opinion about Canon ones.
They're the most popular DSLRs out there, and not only by regular customers but also professionals. This is why i'd naturally redirect you towards a Canon DSLR.
1000€ is of course a great amount of money, but it seems you're unlucky because this price is between 2 categories of Canon DSLRs ^^
What I'd suggest to you is:
- a set Canon EOS 600D + a 18-135mm stabilized lens (830€)
- a 50mm f/1.8 lens to shoot in low light conditions (100€)
- a class 10 16Gb SDHC card (20€)
- a battery-grip + 2 extra batteries (~50€ on eBay)
Which makes exactly 1000€ :-)
FYI: the EOS 600D is exactly the same as 550D video/photo quality wise, the only difference is that the 600D has a moving screen. You can find the set 550D + 18-135mm for 630€ here: link, shipping for free in Europe.
Don't hesitate to ask if you wanna see the potential of the 550D/600D video and photo wise ;-)

Thanks alot ndR for the quick and very detailed answer.
First of all, I've tried a few Nikons and Canon (none have been my own though) and I must say that Canon is what "suits" me best. :D
And second, could you tell me little more about this "moving screen"? Like why should I pay around 200€ more for it and ofcourse what it does. And I'd like to see some clips/pictures of what the cameras a capable of, especially if you have shot it yourself I think it's better to see it from a hobbyphotograher than a professional one. :)
