I own a 550D and I don't really need it to be honest, it can be useful if you want to put the camera on the ground so as to take a picture for example, but it's not needed in any case.
I think it's just a marketing argument.

got a canon 20d and an analogue camera by nikon. i want to get into photography again, but i have no time atm.

edit: funny, i was in barcelona in 2011 too, around may :D

For now I've putted these in my shopping list:

Canon Lens EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS for 170€
Canon EOS 550D Kit EF-S 18-135 IS for 699€
Canon Batterygrip BG-E8 for 110€
Total: 986€

These aren't the exact prices though, just did a fast convertion in my mind from crowns to euro. And the lens is able to take photos in low-light conditions.

However, I have to wait until February 8, because then I fill eighteen and I will get a great amount of money. :)

It's totally useless to buy a 18-55mm since you'll have a 18-135mm lens :D
Both start at f/3.5 so it won't change anything low-light wise.
You must be mixing up with a 50mm f/1.8, which is generally around 100€ ;-)

Ah, you make me think about the fact that in my opinion it's useless to buy the official battery grip, you can find very good ones (quality wise) on eBay, often sold with extra batteries.
Don't waste 110€ in the official Canon Grip WeMeRa :D

That's right. My batterygrip is from Phottix. It cost 50 €. I need him just because of the second battery, and because the camera is better in the hand. And this is a replica sufficient...

I also own the Phottix batterygrip and it looks pretty much like the Canon one, even quality wise :-)

Ah, thanks. For now I'll only buy the camera so I atleast get a good hand with it before I start with more advanced pictures!

When I get my hands on it I'm gonna show the beutieness of Aland Islands! :D

Good to hear! When are you going to receive it?
If you've never had a DSLR camera, I strongly advise you to read the instruction book, it might seem boring but it's really necessary that you understand several concepts before starting.

The advantage of having a DSLR is to be able to shoot pictures with manual settings, you got to forget about all the automatic modes and only use PASM ('P' when you're lazy, 'M' when you want something precise).

It'll look rather big and heavy at first, but you'll get used to it...

I'll most likley will order it next monday and then it will take 2 - 4 days before I can get it from the postoffice.

Well I've taken som pictures with our "Family camera" wich is a DSLR but I havn't used any settings, only the automatic ones.

Haha, it certainly looks like a tank! :D
