Don't worry, I'm taking care of movies & maps on kzmod. As I LOVE slide, I even made some maps, the thought of creating surf maps was and still is eating up on me. There will be many other mappers too so don't quit on kzmod :D just wait

Being able to bhop a bhop block multiple times is silly. Then what is the point at all having them. And yeah then there won't be such thing as hard bhop map.

kayne shifting over to surf?

bhopping is harder than in 1.6 without a doubt.
anyway here are the advantages of removing slowdowns in the game:

bhop hack won't ruin the game anymore
recording will be less time consuming and frustrating.
bhopping will finally be about skills rather than luck.
the game will be more fun overall.

i actually see no reason to keep slowdowns at all.

yes, this might devolve into a similar situation we have going in 1.6 to some extent, where people are miserable playing legit and are either quitting (like myself) or constantly trying to find/pay for bhop hacks because playing that way is way more fun.

agree. in csgo there's no slowdowns at all as far as I'm aware, and that game has a lot of players.
anyway I think the no slowdown thing in csgo is way too exaggerated. It should just be a subtle change like for example instead of reseting your pre to 250 whenever your bhop was over 299 it should just reset to like 280.

BacoN28/08/2014 00:19

What do you mean by slowdown are you talking about going over 300 pre and you want axn on everything? or you want them to remove slowdown if you miss time your bhops so everyone just had a default bhop hack i am confused lol. I would hate to be on the development team and getting this feedback lol game no good slowdown random fix. On another note being able to bhop on the same block multiple times is definitely a bad thing, it will make it really hard to make a hard bhop map without making people bhop on the same block so they can get good edge. I don't think that would make for fun gameplay bhoping in circles on every block lol

idk if we're talking about the same thing dawg, i randomly get like 220 and sometimes even 100. I have to bhop the same block twice sometimes three times like 4 times on average per run @ shrubhop. And the thing is it doesn't feel like I did anything wrong/different so I can't fix it.. I may get that "perfect" run without slowdowns after lots of geeking maybe but it won't even feel like an accomplishment because I wouldn't know why it happened. I literally feel no pattern/technique in not getting slowdowns (small or big ones like dropping to 100 speed).

p.s i have no idea about what goes on in cs:go kz, never played it.

in 1.6 when your bhop pre is 300+ you get a slowdown penalty which is reseting your pre to 250 (I think). In this game i just want the slowdown penalty to be way more subtle (reseting to 280 should be fine). and no I don't want axn on everything.

oh also Juice actually made a hack that works exactly like this. He basically just removed luck from the game with his hack, which is how I want the game to be.

That is a whole different issue that has nothing to do with what I said and that I don't give a shit about. I never have issues bhopping in 1.6 with jump;wait for example, my pre always stays between 260-299 (260 probably being a fake 260 which was reset due to getting over 300) and yeah Juices hack would help even further with jump;wait there. But whenever i bind it back to +jump i get fkn randomness, like 100,150 speeds.

The going over 300 and getting your speed reset phenomenon (which was programmed into the game on purpose) is different from not hitting the "frame" perfectly and getting a real 100 speed bhop.

BacoN28/08/2014 00:43

Well that isn't a random occurrence that is when you go over 300+ I get where you are coming from but without trying it i can't really say if it would be an improvement or not, I haven't tried the 299 pre hack i assume that is the one you are talking about either

Viglioshius28/08/2014 00:44

I don't know why but I don't get any slowdows at all in kzmod.

Cobrex mapper Tournament #228/08/2014 02:04(edited 28/08/2014 02:53)

Ok, after more time put into it, I'm changing my mind.
I DO get slowdows, even tho its soo random that I can't even describe. I kinda geeked shrubhop to the point of ragequit ... just so you know, I only ragequit(ed) 3 times in my entire "kreedz" experience(2009>...). On 1.6 I can understand why my bhop isnt perfect sometimes, bcuz of pre & not scrolling at the exact frame, tho the slowdown is not as fkedup as in kzmod.
For example, I do perfect run (no fail) on shrubhop (kzmod) and fail at a silly easy part. Not once, but several times in a row. Sometimes I even bhop perfectly(shnz style lol) and randomly get 100 prestrafe on a hop.
I consider the current bhop better than 1.2's (kzmod), but way too random compared to 1.6
As these guys above me said, removing the slowdowns may improve the gameplay joy. Everybody is tired with "perfect frame" bhop crap, its way more entertaining and fun without getting slown down cuz of bad frame. No matter how good you are, frames kill you. Its imposs to maintain a decent bhop in kzmod without slowdows.
Tho this change need to be thought of ... since its a game changing setting!

LE: after further investigation, I noticed how much of a big difference can fps_max 100 make, as 300 being default. Still, random slowdowns but much less

BacoN28/08/2014 05:21

I don't even remember getting what you are getting in 1.2 maybe it has something to do with the stability of you computer if changing fps effects it. I remember getting slowdowns when I fail bhop but that's not the games problem that is mine lol I haven't played 2 or much of the old one so maybe ill have to give it another go and see for myself

czupa28/08/2014 08:20

+1 to everyone who say there are random slowdowns in this game, but for me it happens only when im doing standup bhop... kinda weird. I like napz's idea about reseting it to 280, but still i don't think it's the reason of getting these slowdowns because of +300 pre. As i said i feel like standup bhop is very weird.

What napz suggested could turn out a good thing actually. It may be radical but will surely entail a bigger room for competitive scene, perhaps even drag in new players. It's to some extent the same thing that quakelive did to the game yesterday, allowing players to multibhop holding a button as one of the changes to the newer build, covering up their point is to make a game more friendly for newcomers (although in quake it is really easy to bhop).

@sooshka, declining to that low speed is very weird. The last time I had such thing it has been due to my left hand thumb was unwittingly holding the space bar, hence jump on mwheell didn't function. Played like that for a couple of weeks until I figured out the problem lol :D

For anyone playing the alpha, new code has been released that should hopefully fix this bhop randomness problem everyone has been getting. Please give it a go if you have downloaded the game.

Also, raw mouse input has been fixed as well.

+1. bhop is finally enjoyable now. been "waiting" for this since '06. This game is pretty much perfect for me minus minor bugs like being able to bhop bhop blocks twice. Play this game at 1920x1080 with med-high settings and you won't want to touch that old 1.6 dinosaur again. Have yet to see my fps drop below 299-298 as that has been improved as well.

Also an in-game cup plugin would be nice. Again, great work Raptor.

Cobrex mapper Tournament #205/09/2014 13:49

Yeah sooshka, if only I could get 1920x1080, damn, even 150 fps would be great. I'm i5, 6gb RAM, 1gb vcard, 21' inch monitor. I'm ~120 fps and 1280x720, huge borders on every resolution
