is there any hud_draw 0? I need it to focus on strafing and not the moving timer dragging my eyes towards it and other stuff, I kinda work like that

lol some ideas here like getting 280 pre after a 300+ 1 frame bhop would rape the game, everyone would do 240-245 bhops everywhere but sure go ahead

No, I don't take such things for granted. Although, sometimes I really do fail at understanding how someone who's playing a game regularly for years can't do things.

Here is a task for you to solve:

LEWLY has 100 wrs.
Cobrex (insert any other name) has 0 wrs.
Both have identical conditions, same time put, same devices.
Question: Why does LEWLY have more wrs?

Come for the answer when you die to know.

Of course I'm still dealing with difficulties, but that makes the process even more enjoyable. These difficulties eliminate talents out of the mass, that's what makes it for a good game. With this change applied, there will be no longer feel of accomplishment and that's about it.

false comparison, implementing autoaim would remove skill. We didn't remove any skill, we removed randomness, if anything, it takes MORE skill now. There's far more to kz than timing the bhop (and yes timing the bhop is STILL there). Sure maybe all times will get better, but the concept will remain the same. Think of it as a slight gameplay change. There will still be one record holder and recording will still take a lot of time and skill, JUST WITHOUT the randomness.

True, you ease just one of the few aspects of the game while for good perfomance you need to control others. It's the same in cs:go that you referred to as a false example, you've got auto aim but there are still other things to master such as recoil control, positioning, movement in general, tactic etc. In kz besides bhop there are strafes and understanding of physics. Not a false comparison at all.

Mathzz outlined the purposes quite well, but then again, achieving a goal at any cost, for this case sacrifying gameplay for widening the audience. While every part of me wants the game to thrive, I'm just not sure if that's a good solution. I didn't really give kzmod a try after that change has been applied, only got fancy, but even if it stays there permanently I imagine myself still playing it since like you said, nothing in my own gameplay should change at all, except for what I pointed out. Still have to give it a try.

There's fact that geeking will get you somewhere. There is no top5, even top10 XJ record holder that didn't geek. Everybody geeked to get at their skill. Me for example, I focused on what I love, that being "expressing myself, my vision, my "art", my imagination thru maps and movies". So, when did I have time to geek + where's the joy in that? You can't love art as much as coding (for example) ... thats why most moviemakers are ONLY that, not recorders too. The only person for me that amazed me thru every way kz has to offer is FoF, which was a great moviemaker, mapper, jumper and record holder. I somehow want to achieve that too, atleast the "icons" on XJ ... :)

ON: why do you all complain about the new change when you haven't even geeked or even tested the game? Try shrubhop on 1.6 without fails & all combos, then go to kzmod's shrubhop and do the same. I won't give you more than 30mins to ragequit in kzmod ... atleast on the older version. Now thats fixed and its awesome! Stop complaining, most of you won't even touch that game .. ever!

kQbmigrecord holder06/09/2014 19:02

Why does a game like cs:go get so much praise then? That game has no slowdowns and is played by legends such as (pizza^, supa, LEWLY, koukouz, kayne) just to name a few.
My guess would be because the game is less frustrating that way. And about it no longer feeling like an accomplishment when you complete a run - I don't agree.
If anything it actually feels like an accomplishment now since your run is made with pure skill and no luck was involved. To each his own I guess.

Raptor 06/09/2014 19:05

To start, let me clarify that none of KZMod's game design decisions have been made because of cheaters. This change as made to try and improve the bhop experience of 1.6 players, and wasn't made to attract a larger playerbase either.

I can understand why some people might be fearing this has ruined the skill requirements of bhop, but in my opinion all this has done has just made already established bhop techniques reliable. Everyone I've watched test this still does the same technique as before, the difference is they don't stop unless they miss the scroll or mess up the strafes, which I feel is just more fun than trying to time your bhop to the perfect frame, which is inherently unreliable.

The only change that has been made is instead of having to jump perfectly on the frame, you can jump within 1 millisecond of when you hit the ground. The speed cap and jump height reduction are all still there. If you miss the 1 ms window, you lose your speed like normal. The only people who are flying through maps with this change are those who were already highly skilled and could do it most of the time anyway.

When making design decisions, I've always felt the best feature is the one that is the most versatile, but also the most reliable. It's always much more fun to try and improve with something when you know that doing an action will have the expected effect. Like it or not, there are quite a few people who just didn't like bhop simply because it was possible that they could miss their bhop due to some framerate hitch or other problem, which then makes you feel cheated by the game, or feel unlucky, and so on. There is still plenty scope to be frustrated here. You could miss your bhop, screw up a strafe, but at least you won't feel the game cheated you when you felt your technique was flawless.

This change isn't autobhop because if you scroll at the wrong time you will still lose your speed. Ultimately the effect and reception of this is down to everyone else, not me, all I ask is that you see the potential benefits in having a more reliable and fun gameplay experience and how pros can use that reliablity to attempt better strafing and other things. I will also point out that making non-axn bhop easier to learn for new players is not a bad thing - if this change did make bhop easier, than maps can become harder to compensate, instead of bhop mode AA 50 bhop being the only bhop new players can feel they accomplished something in. This change was made for the benefit of existing bhoppers though, not new players.

@kQbmig

If you made a sphere and change it into a func_physbox, it will be physically simulated and roll around. Then just make a spherical trigger around it, like a trigger_legbreak, and parent the trigger to the physbox, and it will roll around and crush anyone it touches.

You can make ladders move around in kzmod by placing the ladder textures on a moving object, but the player won't move with it currently without additional code. An interesting thing is you can make the ladder disappear or appear for the coop team by using the func_brush_kzmod.

I've always wanted a pickup entity for keys and so on so escape maps could be made, I definitely want to add those at some point. As for func_pushable, it can be added, but there are important things like moviemaking at the top of the list right now.

@Juice ._.

Thank you for reporting, it's fixed.

@PiilsnEr

There is a hud_draw 0 command, yes.

kQbmigrecord holder06/09/2014 19:33

wow you can parent entities together? does that mean you can build an elevator where the doors actually move along with the elevator? for example when you tell the elevator go one floor up the doors will go up too?

Somehow I've seen you going off on geeking. But even providing you're not willing to geek, you're still a player since what year, I know for a fact that there's tons of guys out there who geek for no result at all. PU9maker is a good example, geeking records and hardly getting them, it's just recently that he started to submit demos in rather big quantities and he is still complaining that records are extremely hard to get for him. While Slay3r, the guy whose experience is 3 years is showcasing decent level in cups, records sometimes. Probably not the best example fuck off.

Remember the task I wanted you to solve? so here's the answer: what makes someone better than another under equal conditions is a combination of factors such as: disposition, comprehension, physical qualities and whatnot. If you haven't achieved certains it doesn't mean someone else can't.

Anyway, I made my point. Gonna try it out soon, hopefully.

PsYxOpAt mapper06/09/2014 20:07

[blockquote]You can't love art as much as coding (for example) .[/blockquote]

Coding IS an art.

That is correct. You can also make trains that have attached props, attached effects, moving blocks and so on. It's even possible to convert trains and so on into physics objects (so you could make something fall off the ceiling and turn into a physics object). Most objects can be attached and automatically follow other ones.

Juice06/09/2014 21:10

Raptor can you tell me how this wallbug sc on shrubhop is possible?:D https://www.dropbox.com/s/oh7p82uyo3etz1m/0demo.rar?dl=0

Raptor 06/09/2014 21:23(edited 06/09/2014 21:23)

Honestly, I don't know :S, it's because of how close they are and the fact the trigger is just barely within duck-jump height. It's more of a SC than a game bug since I haven't seen this problem anywhere else. Sorry :/

no man, it looks like we're not on the same page and are talking about different kinds of randomness. Let me give you an example in terms of surfing. Let's say there's a surf map called surf_bob and if you went down the first section at an angle of 45 degrees you would ALWAYS get 1000 speed (which is like it is right now in kzmod). Now let's introduce the nasty randomness which I'm talking about and the following would happen: Player does the first section at 45 degrees and the game is like, hmm i'm just gonna give him 500 speed this time for no reason at all even though he deserved 1000. Player does the first section at 45 degrees again and the game is like, hmmm, gonna give him 700 this time. Player does it for the third time, and the game is like okay okay, i'll give him 1000 speed as it should be this time.

I mean wtf???? Why are you arguing in favor of such a gameplay that would make people's IQ drop as they played it?

Oh here comes the good ol you're just not skilled enough excuse. Then why is it I never complain about strafes being random (I'm not as good an ljer as napz at the moment for example, partly because I'm rusty as fuck and haven't taken the game seriously in years)? Why is it I never complain about surf maps being random (I'm not nearly as good as tOni)? Why is it I never complain about slide maps being random (again napz is better than me here)? Why is it only and only bhop I always complain about? Maybe because it was ACTUALLY freaking random and I didn't see a pattern in it whatsoever prior to the recent bhop change?

You mentioned something like it wouldn't feel as an accomplishment anymore. Hahaha, couldn't disagree more. My mto_bhops demo that's still lingering around on cosy afaik, that playing experience was absolute trash and I didn't feel like I accomplished anything. It felt like it was a stupid lucky run which wasn't different from any of my other runs where I scrolled in the same manner but for some stupid reason, this time I didn't slow down. Shaktiblock? same story, absolute garbage that experience was. Made me want to quit the game. I would've rather not gotten a wr and have an enjoyable run as opposed to getting a random wr.

But come the bhop change in kzmod? I've never had so much fun playing kz in my whole "career" for the 1-2 days that I've played it.

Btw, Berkut didn't mind his opinion/chatlog being posted so here it is...

5:11 PM - Ð?. TITS™: hows bhop
5:11 PM - Ð?. TITS™: amazing isnt it
5:11 PM - Berkut is now playing Kreedz Climbing 2.0. Click here to join.
5:11 PM - Berkut: yeah i like it absolutely
5:11 PM - Ð?. TITS™: lol
5:11 PM - Ð?. TITS™: same
5:12 PM - Berkut: it is a different game with improved gameplay
5:12 PM - Berkut: who cares about random cs 1.6 pre shit ;D
5:12 PM - Berkut: if we can fix it here

Looks like another guy who likes the change. I'll just leave it at that for now. Peace.

tOni-07/09/2014 10:18

Hello sirs,
First Raptor man, you are doing such an awesome job for this mod I can only thank you for still trying to fix everything and make a better game for us all.
I personaly play since...oh well ages...and the new changes you made for bhop are great. What's so skilled wasting so much time trying to time every hops perfectly? Instead of wasting time for such stupidity, today u can try doing new combos even faster records alot of possibilitys are open with this new change.
I still play 1.6 when I can, well mostly surfing there, but when I want something new I go kzmod.
I also love that it supports multicore rendering. The game responds alot faster now. Hope to see it grow a little more, I'd love some challenge in surfing there :D
Peace

You put it in the light as if bhop was TOTALLY random in 1.6, which is not. Sure there are misses in bhop but not in the propoprion you suggested.

So..

you don't feel accomplished beating a wr
your playing experience is absolute trash

why even playing if not for self-accomplishment neither for joy?

bhop's good but nostrafing on kz_utopia wasn't really fun D:

suffering of random crap is not fun at all and self-accomplishment that comes in end is the same as it can be in kreedz mode.
also, i would better prefer to accomplish joy while playing, not after it. and i don't feel any joy when failing for example last important pre-based jump because of the randomness of prestrafe nature and having to start map all over again thus wasting more time and nerves.
constant and predictable gaming is not trash at all. it must be along with your skill. and there is no such high skill that would make predictable prestrafes in cs 1.6 kz bhop every time, because its random, obviously. and that is why i actually more prefered hard climb maps, than ordinary bhops.

Hey adantoud, I remember you a young dude who can't bhop or strafe properly.

Anyway, gonna try it out tomorrow *excited*

Berkut Tournament #207/09/2014 21:45

And do you feel self-accomplishment from your remembering skills?
