Bonjur, hello, salam !

I thought about the highjumps and i hope discovered new hj techique..

So, at first let's remeber what highjumps is..

As we know the jump will be highjump if u jumps under 69 units high. In area of 12-13 units from the edge edgefriction slows u down. So, u should jump 12-13 units before the edge.
like this: http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8171/regularhighjumps2cp5.jpg

My idea is: to jump In parallel edge and then turn to the right direction in the air. Edgefriction will not slows u down cause there will not edge in front of u.. http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6021/highjumpswithturn3bn4.jpg

I hope my theory is right and someone will break 241 units highjump record. :D

dunno going to try

Edgefriction isn't only a line infront of the player, it's most likely a box surrounding the player or a circle. I'm not sure but this would make sense.

Anyways... if your theory is right why haven't bibo done 249hj (max at kz_ljs i think) backwards?

ah yea lol ... true true

BooLiSH16/10/2007 17:32

hm...it's a bit strange :/ don't understand it 100%

tjubby16/10/2007 17:32

That was with edgefriction 0 :)

Becouse he pressed S+A (or S+D) and edge was infront of his backside..

BooLiSH16/10/2007 17:39

and what is it like in ur theory?

Pulsar!16/10/2007 17:44

heh, dunno how to explain that
My idea was to jump not under the edge, but under the hj platform and turn in the air to the right direction..

BooLiSH16/10/2007 17:52

yes but the edgefriction is around you also on the right/left side of you, not only in front :/
due to your 2nd picture the distance to the left of the player is <12units

Pulsar!16/10/2007 17:53

Did u test it ?

puppetz mapper16/10/2007 17:59

I've thought about it too, but I think the turn to the right will slow you down too much, compared to just jumping straight.

turning it is like an additional strafe, it should be timed very well..

BooLiSH

It means u will slowed like this ? will it be ?

BooLiSH16/10/2007 18:13

hm.. yes.. doesn't it? :?
you're just turned be 90° it's the same

No, you don't get it. The turn will add a little bit speed, because it's like a strafe, yes. But because you are not landing in front of where you jump off, you would not be able to gain enough speed.

But u shouldn't jump 12-13 units before.. and strafes it is a little turns.. is not it ?

But there is no edge in front of u (on the left and right too) why u should be slowed by an edge ?

wtf.. demo plx

pRopaaNS mapper16/10/2007 19:17

Anyway if your idea is true, i can`t gan with this tehnique even 220 regular longjump units, 90* turning decrease all speed, it`s too sharp... :(

Pulsar!16/10/2007 19:47

Yeye, it is not easy..
