but isn't t=(238.375+sqrt(238.375^2-4*0.5*800*(-18)))/(2*0.5*800) the main reason for stormzz²(-1337^2+10/sex)?

eDark16/06/2009 00:49(edited 07/01/2010 20:41)

ofc:
268.25 units/s = vertical speed at jumpoff
-800 units/s^2 = gravity
18 units = height difference between jumping and landing
the rest is just formula stuff

and here is how to get the formula:
a = -800 units/s^2
integrated: v(t) = -800 units/s^2 * t + v(0s)
v(0s) = 268.25 units/s
integrated again:
h(t) = 1/2 * -800 units/s^2 * t^2 + 268.25 units/s * t + h(0s)
h(0s) = 0 units
h(t) = -18 units
=> 0 = 1/2 * -800 units/s^2 * t^2 + 268.25 units/s * t + 18 units

0 = ax^2 + bx + c => x1,x2 = (-b +- Sqrt(b^2 - 4*a*c)) / (2*a)
and so you get the formula

eDark it's like you're speaking russian to me right now, can't understand shit. You should get warned for talking in another language, sir.

can you give the whole formula that you gave on the first page this topid, but without numbers? only x,y,g,h,t and other stuff :o
e.g. t = xy where x - gravity * -1; y - vertical speed

eDark16/06/2009 09:24

i thought that would be obvious but anyway:
t=(vertical speed+sqrt(vertical speed^2-4*0.5*gravity*height difference))/(2*0.5*gravity)

b.rabbit16/06/2009 10:43

ye sure its obvious..

u took this from my mounth sir. :)

i'm not so good at maths and english, so it's not obvious for me
anyway thx eDark

faxity16/06/2009 23:28

we still haven't heard the end of the story edark

eDark - you the good fellow. I have tried to make some material on your posts.

Small lessons by eDark have turned out. I think that you should make own tuts on cs (round geometry and trigonometry which extend for cs)

keep trying, you can jump ~56 units high:) no cheats, no gravity, but it's not originally cs "method"(hint)

oldtopic bother?

opa20/06/2009 21:27

lol, didn't know that such a nice topic exists :D well these are cute numbers, but the problem is that i dont understand anything :D

+1, sir! Well, I understand some russian words, so it's like eDark is speaking chinese to me, sir! :<

oh I am so sorry for bumping this 6 months old thread but will we ever hear the end of such a beautiful story about how to jump higher than 45 units? :P
