Longjump: Questions and answers
hey, i'm new to the community and I decided to become a kz player 2 weeks ago.
Since then i've been trying to improve in hns/kz/lj, and I did get pretty good already. At the moment there are a lot questions in my mind and i'd just like to ask them here, i'm also going to become active at this forum. What i'm actually looking for is someone who can teach me how to become a good kz player.
First i'll list my hardware etc and my settings, there might be things which should be changed, just wondering.
Mouse: atm Intelli 3.0@500hz, I got a G5 laying here, but somehow I lj better with my intelli, I guess since i'm used to it, but if it will improve gameplay(especially stats) i'll change to G5.
windows 6/11, 450 DPI(I guess), sensitivity ingame 2.1, I wonder if this is too low. Also steelseries Qck+ mousepad.
Constant 100fps, whatever map u pick.
Resolution ingame: 1024x768, openGL, '22 widescreen 75hz, I wonder if I'll get better stats if I LJ with 1680x1050, since someone told me it does and whenever I go to 800x600 my stats get horrible.
Well I went in some lj server for 5mins and Longjumped alot stats in 5mins, just copied and pasted whole console in a document.
I normally used to LJ 100aa and I lj'ed stats in 100aa server.
At my own server I lj'ed 10aa but I doesn't seem to give me the stats of each strafe, someone might wanna explain how to turn this option on or get this option, I only got the pack of XtremeJumps installed@my server.

Well I hope there is someone who is willing to help me, and give me some usefull tips and tell me how to really perfection my sync and strafes. I prefer someone who really knows what he's talking about, i've talked to alot people and each one has given me a different advice. One said make ur strafes smaller, other one said bigger. One said 6 strafes, other one said 7 strafes, another one said get atleast 8 strafes.
I'm used to lj'ing best with 7 strafes atm, idk My hand was immediately used to it and it went all automatically.
Well that's it, I kinda wrote alot but yeah just wanted to make everything clear, hope someone can seriously help me to get as good as the top kz jumpers, you can also contact me trough PM if you're willing to help me/got questions, i'll give msn/steam/w.e.

I could jump 250+ (and block, record 253, yay!) stats frequently before and then I stopped LJ'ing.
And it was 4 months ago I stopped, decided to start again now.
I can jump 250+ stats (not block) from time to time atm but I sometimes get 228 - 232 ljstats, it says that I doesn't duck but actually I do, it's really annoying.
Why is that?
First time I ask for help about LJ..
h1 ppl. i have 1 question. Usually, i jump 245-249 units LJ with 3 strafes(constantly). And today can`t jump at all. I find out that my 2-nd and 3-rd strafes = 0. For example :
LJ Distance: 234.658935 Maxspeed: 301.218658 (17.434) Prestrafe: 274.784149 Strafes: 3 Sync: 89
1 17.434 0.000 36.4 87
2 0.000 13.216 18.9 85
3 0.000 2.378 44.5 93
Fail: Block -- 245! Jumpoff -- 2.871.
I just dunno what reason. I jump constantly 245-249 for 2-3 weeks and everything fine. But today...

I think you're just having an off day, everybody has. :P
Just take a break for a couple of hours or one day and you will be able to jump longer again!

well, i have some progress... watch 1 mo demo. What i do wrong, on what I should pay attention? just watch at jumps with 3 strafes ( sometimes i try do 4-5). And 1 mo question. Why sometimes some strafes equal 0? and lost equal, for example 15-20? But sync is fine. May be bad trajectory? Please guys, watch those demos, and say something=)

Not helpful to tell anyone this. Nobody knows how fast/slow this is.

All LJ records are done with 10aa. Do not do 100aa.

XJ listen server pack stats cannot show strafe stats, they are limited. Download uq_jumpstats by Bjormi here:

This plugin has full stats for everything.

More strafes is always better. If you can do 10 strafes and get more than 5 on all of them, go for it. Of course you probably can't, because the best LJ'ers in the world can barely fit in a tiny 8th strafe.
Do as many strafes as you can do, then try to strafe faster and faster adding one more at a time. You should be getting 7-10 gain on the first 4/5 and 2-6 or so on the rest. Doing 10 strafes with 2 gain on each is useless: your MS needs to be 330 or higher for very far jumps.
You will find that doing 5/6 strafes properly will take you a long time from beginner. Doing 6 then 7 will take even longer, and 8? See you in a few years.

There is only one answer - you are jumping incorrectly. Try doing just one strafe for awhile (prestrafe) and then add one. After you pre-strafe, keep turning in the direction you prestrafed after jumping - this is your first strafe. When doing do two strafes, after doing the first strafe, turn in the opposite direction pressing the opposite strafe key. Just do two strafes until you get 10+ gain on both.
Then add three.
