people are slowly starting to wear protective gear in the streets, the roads are empty, the shopping malls are ransacked. schools and kindergartens are closed, universities as well, same goes for bars, most restaurants, spas, wellness centers, cinemas, ski centers.
ngl this is pretty much an introverts wet dream - it is recommended to stay at home and limit contact with people.
since we have insufficient swab tests, only selected groups of people are tested (positive epidemiologic anamnesis being an important criterion) and admitted to infectology ward. elderly patients with pneumonias, or people who have not travelled abroad and/or have not been in contact with people with suspected covid usually go to in internal medicine ward (my workplace). so I ended up with 2 patients with what turned out to be viral pneumonias ^^ I'm currently waiting for covid confirmation from them. if it's positive I'm quarantined for 2 weeks and very likely infected :D if anyone's interested I'm linking an HRCT scan of one of them.. white shit = bad

I'm a doctor working at internal medicine ward. could be still an rs-virus or influenza pneumonia. not really worried for myself since I'm a healthy young person, so in the worst case I'm gonna chill @ home playing nioh2 and ori with some cough and fever :D I'm more worried about these patients, I think they'll end up on mechanical ventilation regardless of the virus involved
13/03/2020 23:34When a confirmed bloke is found to live or go somewhere, they quarantine the place, disinfect streets, etc... up to yesterday morning, 222,728 have been tested. They closed my gym for 2 weeks here and everyone wears masks. You can get them once per week on your ID card, but from what I tried, it's not easy to find a place where they have it.
Although Korean measures seem to be milder, they have several advantages. It's basicly an island and they have lead start having experience with SARS and MERS.
Also, be aware that the numbers you see are far from reality. Why does Korea has so low doeathrate? Because they test excessively everyone who had contact with infected people. They tell us where the person was at which time, whether they wore mask, etc. If you have connection to these, you can be tested after 2 weeks. From what I know from news, in Czech they let you know 20x20 km area where the person lived, which is ridiculous and many cases slip and spread the virus.
PS: When you are healthy and building up your immunity, you are somewhat safe, but you can still spread it to your elders.

In larger stock markets no more than 5 people are allowed to go in at the same time.
Sadly, a lot of people are panicking, buying food and other commons like crazy.

Yet, all of our schools, universities and nurseries are closed. Probably millions of us could be infected right now but what's the matter? In France if you are sick with the same symptoms as the flu, you won't be tested, because it doesn't matter: whether you have the flu or the coronavirus the same things apply to you, you stay home until you're not sick anymore so you don't make other people sick, like it has always been for any flu. For me it looks like people just learned about basics health standards...
True. It's the same as flu. We do have vaccination, it is as well researched as the flu and e.g. 0.14% death rate is the same as the COVID-19 has. Flu also has the same amount of severe cases and also can permanently damage your inner organs.

U guys just have no idea why this disease os terrifying
It is not due to the mortality, but also the morbidily, u may lose 30% of your lung function after healing, which mean you may not be able to go to the gym anymore, even walking for a distance would be difficult for you. It also attack your testis. So u may have no chance to have a kid.
What more important it, this disease need many medical devices to keep you alive. When the number goes go higher and higher, no one can save u since there wont be enough medical devices.
So please dun think it dorsnt matter, please.

If you are infected, it is likely that your family members will also be infected.
You are healthy, you are young, but do you live alone?
If no, then you have to consider also those living with you.
You are a doctor, you must know the hospital capacity. You should know how many ventilation your hopsital actually gets. If more and more people are infected, can you save also the elderly and those with chronic disease?

I know a guy at work that is positive to COVID-19, he has to stay at home for the next 14 days, he has 2 kids and his wife, everyone has the coronavirus now in his house, but it's nothing different from a flu. He has a slight fever and that's all, unless you're above 70 years old or very weak nothing will happen... You might have the corovirus in you but you won't even notice...

Obviously the death rate will probably be higher than the regular flu, but it's also well above the reality because we test only a few people that we know are infected, the number of infected people might be way higher but we'll never know because 98% won't be tested, and it would be pointless anyway. Around 650 000 people die by the flu each year worldwide...

Ratio for serious:some symptoms is 1:6, with the age not considered. If you, only one of your family members, are not lucky enough to make it. Then you may have some sequelae, or even die.
And the mortality is definitely not that low, unless you only consider the mortality of patients at your age. But, can you make sure you will not contact and infect some elderly? Please also consider that you may develop symptoms 14 days after u have been infected.
More people die because the hospitals are incapable of treating everyone. That's why this virus is terrifying. If it was under controlled situation, less people would die world wide. That's not the case, and countries are overwhelmed and run down with this outbreak. Yes, it's not as deadly for younger people, but they are still contagious. If you're being an idiot and not taking this seriously, you're basically killing other people.
So don't be an idiot. Understand the consequences of your wreckless actions.

The first italian woh was 38 years old, ended in 3 weeks respiratory coma. She wasn't old. It's not an old mans disease, like everyone is led to believe. It can take out mid-young people too.

This won't blow over before mid/end summer imo. It's just a big wakeup call.
14/03/2020 17:11g-Lp is not as linear as flu as it looks, from what doctors found in Portugal and at least told us (people) even tho young people might not die and just feel like a normal flu they will have issues for the rest of their lives in their lungs, as I am not doctor I will stay in quarantine till this chills. In one day Portugal got +50 cases because people are still going out at night and stuff...
