some updates...
so my 2 patients I mentioned in last post were negative for covid so hurray for me. my infection will come another day.
the situation in my country is so far more or less under control. the number of infected patients is growing surprisingly slowly, although we're still not carrying out enough tests per day (but that's improving too).
the people are very disciplined (to my surprise), everyone wears a mask outside.
our government has employed some pretty strict restrictions, among others it seems like there will be a (mandatory?) app for tracking citizens movement and their contacts (bluetooth-based)
the hospital I work is was chosen to be the "red zone" hospital, so persectively all of the infected patients will be transferred here until there are no free beds left.
currently we have 292 infected. only 2 of them are on ICU. one of these two is ventilated. the other guy is so-so.
some technical notes:
*the anesthesiologists are very reluctant to put patients on mechanical ventilation, since experience from abroad shows that it's difficult to extubate them, so they're satisfied even with low sats (like75%)
*the treatment guidelines are changing on the go, currently the trend seems to be hydroxychlorochine + azithromycine for 5 days with linezolide/moxifloxacine in case of bacterial superinfection
*afaik remdesvir was succesfully administered to one patient in czech republic

We have enough face masks (it's optional to wear them), enough disinfectants, no restrictions except of church gatherings and indoor gyms, other government "restrictions" are basicly recommendations. They will also compensate companies for their financial loss.
Over 10% of Italy's death toll are medical workers. My thoughts are with all of them.
Last, debates whether the virus is man-made or natural should be held upon the end of the pandemic. It's not a good time to start a war right now :)
